Second time hiking this trail. Easy to navigate. Love the rock bluffs.

Ran the entire trail from the West Mountain trail head in clockwise direction, coming back out on Bath House Row, and returning to the trailhead mostly through Canyon Trail and finally jumpin on the median off of West Mountain Summit Dr.

So, about the trail. Expect a good amount of climbing over short distances. Sunset Trail takes you through at least 4 different mountains. While elevation is not too pronounced, the climbing is. I mentioned it to others, I wish I had and knew how to use poles. I bet they would've made a huge difference.

Trail markers. Yeah...good luck. make sure you have a compass, proper map or phone app/GPX file of the area. Also, bring plenty of water --if you do get turned around, there are NO water sources nearby the trail until you reach Gulpha, and even then, I would not trust it for drinking without treatment.

Back to the markers, sorry. There are very few, and they are far apart. Around Gulpha you'll depend more on good markers as you approach a more developed area with more trails. Most markers are missing, broken or "annotated" by other visitors, so they are of little use.

The views. There aren't many. You are going to be surrounded by rock, mountain, and foliage. There are a few "wet" crossings. I did this in late Winter, and there were no streams deep or wide enough to have no option but to have your feet wet.

Nothing too terribly special from a running standpoint, but it was good training. Go out and do it, and tell me what you think about it.

Happy trails!

Father and daughter overnight backpacking trip. we started at highway 10 and hiked to Nancy Shelter. The following morning we hiked to Lake Sylvia. Lots of water due to the significant recent trains. Long wooden bridge washed out.

This trail was amazing. Well marked and beautiful. The overlook was amazing. Considering the time of year this trail will only get better as it greens up.

Really beautiful. Some many things to look at on this trail. It has a natural bridge, caves that you can walk through, picnic areas. Trail was not that hard for us at all. We have kids from 8-14 years of age. I would highly recommend!

Easy trail with few views. Beautiful area in the Spring and Summer.

I have hiked this trail multiple times in the last few months and really enjoy it. My 3 year old and Golden Retriever have loved it, as well.

Brand New sidewalk throughout. Looks like the trail before was crushed stone and followed a different path in places?

Easy trail.

This was about as long of a trail as we could do with 4 kids 11-4 but we did it in about 4 hours. It was incredible and one of the best highlights was the grotto. Must do while at petit jean for sure.

I have bad knees and it was a little slow going in places. But there are benches all along the trail to rest. It was absolutely incredible!!

Trail was just what my we needed for a great hike, especially with our 4 month old golden retriever. The trails were super easy to navigate and we had a blast!

First off, it was great weather for hiking! There were several groups out, but it wasn’t too busy at all. The trail is well maintained, well marked, and easy to follow. I think the trail was close to five miles from the trailhead, to the overlook and back. The overlook was very scenic and peaceful. Overall enjoyed it.

This trail was gorgeous from start to finish. Don’t miss The Grotto or The Natural Bridge. 10/10. Can’t wait to come back.

Truly beautiful trail. We took 4 kids from 11-4 and never missed a beat. Don’t let the sign scare you off The view is absolutely worth it.

Very difficult but adventurous trail. You will have to get on all fours for this trail.

Fun but short hike. Very nice waterfall.

Amazing view of Beaver Lake half way through the hike was an added bonus!

Very nice spring day to explore the trail. Not a lot of people out. Signs of spring showing on the floor of the forest.

Pretty good trail! Lots of fun stuff along the way, an old homestead, a few neat overhangs, a cave. My only complaint is that once you cross back over the road, the trail gets a lot less maintained.

Easy hike. Good scenery.

It was a level hike through pretty trees. We took our stroller and made it, but had several places where we needed to lift it up to get it through mud. It would probably be less muddy in the summer months. We also never found the waterfall.

This was the nicer of hikes, good views

Good walk, nice
