Perfect trail for beautiful views of Pinnacle Mountain. I highly recommend taking this trail all the way to the east quarry trail.

I had hiked up the East side and descended the West. It was a little easier descending the West but way more people to navigate around. I loved every minute and am glad I went. This was a bucket list hike but not for the out of shape.

I had read very little about this trail but have heard about it from several friends. I didn't have any expectations. I was very surprised by all the boulder climbing but it was so worth it when I got to the top. This was a bucket list hike I'm glad I did.

We paired this trail with the caney creek trail for a nice one night backpacking loop. We parked our car at the east caney trailhead and walked about a mile up the gravel road to the buckeye trailhead. Both trailheads are well marked and have plenty of parking. The buckeye is rated as moderate and I believe that is an accurate description. It’s has some decent climbs but nothing too taxing or that lasts for too terribly long. I read where others had some issues following the trail but we didn’t experience any of this. This may be due to the time of year we went which had decreased underbrush. The views along the ridge of the buckeye were vast and the rock formations along this and the caney were impressive. There’s a few good areas to stop and rest or have a snack. Be sure to pack all the water you will need as there is no water for filtering along the ridge. We hiked about 4.5 miles on the trail (not including the 1 mike hike to the trailhead) and arrived at Katy falls. We ended up camping at a spot above the falls and up the stream a bit. It was secluded and peaceful with a nice fire ring and the stream near by for a water source. The falls were a great place for our dog to swim in the pool below and a great place to hang out for lunch. After a good nights rest we joined up with the caney creek trail and headed east. We passed several nice campsites, both near the stream, where the trails merge. The caney creek trail passed through a beautiful forest area and was near the stream for the majority of the hike. There were several campsites along this portion of the trail as well. As with the buckeye, there were a few areas with some elevation gain but nothing too severe. It’s a shady area for the most part unlike the ridge of the buckeye which could also get a bit breezy. After about 4 miles we were at the east caney trail head and at the end of our hike. This was our first time to this area and we can’t wait to go back again.

Great trail, prob closer to easy vs moderate but enjoyable terrain

beautiful hike!! not terribly difficult but I wouldn't take it if I was shaky.

Great trail!! The hike isn't too tough unless you're out of shape like me.

Great trail with diverse rocky terrain! We did turned into the lake loop. Enough space for heavy traffic and but you still feel secluded. Our 7 month old lab did Great on and off the leash. This lake is not swimming friendly. The trail head has a pic of what looks like large water moccasins with a sign that states “swimming in the lake is not recommended.” We did see a snake on St. Patty’s day. Thanks St. Patrick!

The trail was great. However, I recommend AllTrails removes fishing from the things to do. There is no place on the hike where you can get close enough to water to fish. Well, unless you scale down an incredibly steep, cliff like overhang.

Great afternoon hike for the family.

excellent trail!

It was a pretty trail and well maintained. Easy to follow as well. It connects to a larger trail if you want to take that option. The end of the trail has a lake view. It just wasn’t what I was expecting. I was use to more difficult trails.

We have hiked this trail many times and love it! Some of the terrain can be ruff depending on what loops you take. That being said I was able to hike with our 1 year old in a carrier on my back so I would say that it’s a fairly easy trail. We did take our dog and he got covered in ticks so make sure you spray down. It’s a beautiful and peaceful hike to spend a few hours on. We have seen deer, squirrels, and armadillo.

Very pretty

We hiked this trail the other day. It was a little over 6.5 miles roundtrip taking the Goat Trail to the Big Bluff with around a 1000 ft. descent going in and a 1000 ft. ascent coming back. The trail is an old logging trail and can be rocky at times. The views are definitely worth the hike. The goat trail is narrow, but is not dangerous if you are paying attention. Bringing a lunch and having a picnic at the Bluff is a memory that we will cherish.

We hiked out to the Hawksbill Crag this past week. It was a very enjoyable hike. It was not very difficult, about 3.2 miles with about 100 ft of ascent. My 4 yr old daughter handled the hike without issue. The view from the Crag was something to behold. Highly recommend this hike.

I'm an average hiker and this trail was challenging coming out of the hollow. It took about an hour to get down to the falls, well worth the time, I must say. It was beautiful!! Short hike to the river to see it's beauty as well. Coming out was tough. Multiple stops to catch my breath, it took me about an hour and forty-five minutes to reach the top. Take plenty of water and a snack.

Great trail. Lots of elevation change so be prepared. There’s a geocaching place a bit off the trail. I recommend taking your time to explore and climb rocks around the trail, especially the natural bridge! Very fun and several scene changes from rocks to woods which kept things interesting. Well marked and I appreciate the mile and half mile signs.

It was a pleasant hike, well marked trail. Easy to lightly moderate.

Love the views from the Lodge, the trail was nice. Took my time and enjoyed the plants and greenery.

It’s an alright trail. Probably better when the trees aren’t all dead in the winter. It turns into a long stretch of the same thing towards the end, good views though.

LOVED this trail. The terrain was varied and interesting, walking most of the trail by the creek was perfect, and the waterfall was gorgeous. You even get to hike back on a bluff next to the lake. Perfect distance for families and dogs too. Would do this hike again for sure!

We live on Southridge Dr so walk this trail several times a week & never get tired of its beauty! We’re moving this summer & this will be the #1 thing that we’ll miss about Little Rock. The creeks & waterfalls are running good today!

Short easy, enjoy the petroglyphs

Enjoyed the hike, packed a lunch and ate at the Grotto.
