This hard-surfaced loop trail winds through the floodplain of the Little Maumelle River. Unique plants, wildflowers, animals and birds can be seen here. Along the river, large cypress trees filter sunlight into this special bottomland forest. Birdwatchers will enjoy exploring this trail early in the morning.Show more

Lake Maumelle is a major water source for the Little Rock area. Central Arkansas Water owns the lake. This little-known trail is a short, easy, out-and-back trail of about 1.4 miles (0.7-miles each way). The trail is asphalt for the first 0.2 miles and offers views of the Jolly Roger's Marina, wildflowers, and birding opportunities. At the end of the asphalt path, the trail continues another 0.5-miles to a peninsula offering great views across Lake Maumelle. The Audubon Society of Central Arkansas has built an observation deck at the end of the trail for bird observing. Accessibility: The trail surface is paved asphalt and then turns to natural surface. The paved section is typically at least four feet wide. The width for the natural surface section is unknown. The estimated grade for the entire trail is flat (all 1% or less). There are benches by the water for resting.Show more

Penny campsite is the only place where camping is allowed along the Ouachita Trail within the Lake Maumelle watershed. It is reached from the OT by a 0.9 mile spur trail. The campsite is located at the top of a hill with no water. It is little used, fenced (with a gate) and has with tent pads with fire pits. The nearest reliable water source is 1/4 mile west (Reece Creek) from the start of the spur trail. Near the top, there are views of Lake Maumelle from the spur trail. Show more

Note that the original trail, according to signage at the site, was only 0.13-miles long, but has obviously been extended and has potential to grow longer. This short walk offers nice views of the lake, bird watching opportunities, and wildflower viewing. NOTE: Lake Maumelle is a protected drinking water source and no swimming, wading, canoeing, kayaking, or any activity that allows bodily contact, is prohibited at this location. Please follow these rules!Show more

The Rabbit Ridge Mountain Biking Trail is designed for beginner off road bicyclists. The trail is wide and although it has minor elevation changes and some rocks to ride over it makes the perfect place for a novice to ride. Kids will particularly like riding on this trail. The Rabbit Ridge Mountain Biking Trail and the Jackfork Mountain Biking Trail are the only trails at Pinnacle Mountain State Park that allow bicycles.Show more
