Starting just west of the visitor center, this trail follows the north rim of the mountain to Cameron Bluff Overlook Drive. A spur connects with the western end of the Mossback Ridge Trail to create a 4.4-mile loop back to the visitor center. (Red Blazes), or it can be an out and back trail.

The trailhead is located at the back of the Brown Springs picnic/camping area. You can hike the trail out and back, or take the tower road back to the main road. The distance is about the same. Fall and winter months are the best time to hike this trail if you want to see a view. This trail is not on the main hiking map for Mt. Magazine, and it is poorly maintained. This trail starts at the picnic area and crosses the highway and the head waters to Shoal Creek. It meets the the Mossback Ridge Trail to make a loop with the North Rim Trail.
The area now occupied by the Greenfield Picnic Area and the visitor center was a family farm before the Great Depression. The Greenfield Trail starts in the picnic area, crosses the highway and the headwaters of Big Shoal Creek, and meets the Mossback Ridge Trail. It climbs 210 feet in elevation. This is a good place to start a 14-mile hike to Cove Lake. (Green Blazes) A .3-mile spur leads down an old wagon road to Turkey Springs.Show more
