Unusual place for a trail head — behind a couple of camping sites at Redding. But a perfect hike for me. A good uphill to a great midpoint – Spy Rock. Then a good descent back to Redding campground. Btw, did I mention that Redding is on the Mulberry River? A dip in the river is a perfect way to top off a great hike. Note: the a- and descent each have spots of (what I consider) narrow trail, especially given one side of the trail is pretty much straight down. Those spots are definitely doable, but I felt a heightened sense of caution traversing those stretches.
