Easy, and not very hilly in or out. I plan to return and take my grand kids (ages 6-8) there.

Had a great time, Trail could have been marked a little better, because when the OT combined there was no more markings for Brushy. Great walk tho !

This was a nice, short hike with several interesting features: a natural bridge, a pretty creek, interesting bluffs, a cave, and frequent benches providing great places to sit, have a snack, and enjoy God's creation. We were early in the season and during the week, so had the place to ourselves. Definitely worth your time.

This trail is epic. It is not a moderate trail!!! This was intense at times with so much elevation and immediate decline. The up and down is constant the entire trail. So that will take a toll on your endurance quick. However, if you can bare through it then you'll have some amazing experiences here. The aroma of fresh pines and cedar will keep your mind refreshed. The peaks and cliffs will keep your eyes wide open and satisfied with majestic views. The rocks, logs, boulders, and Creek crossing will keep your body challenged physically. We completed over 12 miles from 7am to 4pm. I took my time to take pictures but I am a fairly quick walker. Go look at my instagram and you see some amazing photos I captured with my dog. @danyandhisdogchica

I recommend this trail for the more experienced hikers. Make an entire day for it. Start early and finish with plenty of daylight.

You can see this one from your car! Take a few minutes to get out and explore and play in the water. Be sure to do the .5 mile hike to Pam’s Grotto while you’re here. It’s right off the highway on the opposite side of the road.

Great hike, even the wild animals were nice. An owl gave me advice on on how many licks to get to the center of my Tootsie Pop. It was wrong, but at least he talked to me, unlike my family, who suck.

pretty easy trail with some neat sites. my kids loved it.

What a wonderful place we'll worth the 2.5 hour drive. My German Shepherd went swimming the weather was in the high 70's. I will be coming back to camp and go to the cavern.

Decent trail with a few good views. There’s a lot of back and forth just to extend the length of the trail.

Camp ground is now open. Not even a hike! Anyone can see this beauty!

Great fall great hike! Fun hike to start the day with plenty of water at falls

Could be marked better.Got a little confused about where we were on trail a couple times

Good trail. Goes along Arkansas river and through the woods. Pretty and moderately traveled

It was a pretty trail and well maintained. Easy to follow as well. It connects to a larger trail if you want to take that option. The end of the trail has a lake view. It just wasn’t what I was expecting. I was use to more difficult trails.

We have hiked this trail many times and love it! Some of the terrain can be ruff depending on what loops you take. That being said I was able to hike with our 1 year old in a carrier on my back so I would say that it’s a fairly easy trail. We did take our dog and he got covered in ticks so make sure you spray down. It’s a beautiful and peaceful hike to spend a few hours on. We have seen deer, squirrels, and armadillo.

Cool caves and water features if it has rained in the past week or so.

Hiked section 1 from Lake Ft. Smith to Dockery's Gap and loved it. We did the 9 or so mile stretch in a little over 4 hours but didn't stop much. It was fairly cold so we didn't go through too much water, i carried about half a gallon and had some left over but there was plenty of running water to treat and drink if needed. Frog Bayou was about knee high and freezing but luckily i had a towel so i crossed bare foot and dried off before putting my socks and boots back on. Lots of up and downs but nothing too arduous until the last mile or so when there is a good climb back up to Old Locke Road (FR 1007). Overall it was a great hike with lots to see and I can't wait to get back out there and hike the rest of the OHT.

Many choices of trails to follow.

So easy and beautiful. I could sit here and enjoy all day. Try to go during the week. The weekends get real busy.

This fall was amazing when you got there. It is reached by going into the Hawes Creek Fall Recreation Area behind site 6 is the trail. Once you reach the creek you will be going back and forth across it the entire way. Hiking poles don't work for you if you leave them in the

Campground road closed to vehicles due to flooding. No problem just waded across the creek and just down the road to the small and charming campground. to the left across the road from the vault toilets was the most beautiful, amazing and fast moving waterfall. Perfect!

Very beautiful under the bridge! We were able to get a few photos for our brand and we hid some packages out there. Let us know if you find them

Did this a few years ago while working EMS. Unfortunately, we had to rescue a hiker from the waterfall. All I remember was it middle summer, hot and at night and about 12 guys carrying a patient. I do look forward to doing it again, but in the daytime and with just my pack.

Thru hiked 125 miles of this trail. From fort smith to Fairview mountain what a journey. So beautiful although very secluded which is what makes it so great but also sucks when you forget important things or need to shower but we made it work! Never saw another hiker on the trail but the campsites were an awesome tool. Definitely recommend a map that has the campsites on it. We went at the end of September and first week of October, weather was perfect with only one day of rain!

Great little loop trail with a lot to see.

So Beautiful.... easy trail and family friendly!
