The trail is an easy walk with a slight elevation. There is a geocache near the highest point in Arkansas. Other trails crossed the path in confusing ways so a map was very useful. It rained earlier in the day so many areas were muddy. There are no grand views from this trail but the Lodge nearby has an amazing restaurant with breathtaking views. We saw squirrels and chipmunks and almost caught sight of something bigger along the way.

Beautiful east hike! Not one for little kids or those scared of heights! Drive up is intense in a small car , I wouldn’t go after a rain in one . SUV should have no problem!!! Happy trails !

Loved the Grove. It was normal hill trail with no one else around. Could do without the cement part of the trail that is by the lake.

This can be a challenging trail, lot of fun, great views, definitely one of my favorites. There are multiple camp sites on east and west side. I will repeat this trail more then once and camp at different spots. Cant wait to return and go counterclockwise from Shores Lake. Plenty of water sources, can also get water from White Rock rec area. Do the Rim trail if able, great hike.

Went with my brother in December! Quite cool and humid but got sunnier throughout the day. However, the flat rocks all along the trail were extremely slippery (fell a couple times). Be careful, lol! Great time though - will definitely visit the Petit Jean area again!

Amazing trail for intermediate riders. My new favorite trail is one that is not on the map yet. It is on the “experienced riders only” side of slaughter pen 2. If you go all the way to the south part of it, there is an amazing downhill run, starting with a 7-8 foot drop. You have to be flying to hit all the jumps, but it is near impossible without hitting the initial drop. At the end there are multiple rock gardens that are pretty stable, and then a berm with the option for a big tabletop jump or a decently sized drop. Not on the maps yet, but it is definitely open.

This is a nice drive, but there's an even prettier one that takes a little less time. Take 5 out of Mountain View, but instead of following 5 all the way to Calico Rock, turn left on 14 at Allison (look for Anglers Resort on the right). Follow 14 to 341 (Push Mountain Rd.) and take a right. Very curvy road and a little steep at one point, but well constructed and has some beautiful views.. At end of 341, you can turn right onto 201 and then left onto 5, which will take you into Mountain Home. OR you can turn left onto 201 and stay on it 'til you get to the Sheid Hopper Bypass. Cross Bypass (see Library on the right) and drive into Mountain Home from there.
