We went out with two 250 dirt bikes and it wasn’t too bad til we got a little bit down the trail and the water was too deep for us to cross. If you were in a Jeep or a side by side you’d be fine. A lot of sand, so a good way to control your bike but all around a lot of fun. Definitely will be going back in a couple weeks.

I took my 2020 Can-Am maverick four seater the entire trail ran through some fairly deep water along the river and saw well over 100 hawks and couple of deer!

The trail has several fallen signs, and is easy to go the wrong way. There are several intersection roads and trails that are unmarked. The wash is slow going because your feet sink downs 6". The good is lots of plant and cactus life and great scenery along with a really nice area where the trail starts. Well marked entrance to the flats. I seen several different types of animal footprints.

2nd time here. Enjoyed the "oasis" nature of this trail on a hot, desert day.

The Hassayampa River Trail system is a hidden gem of a trail area. It is neither rigorous nor remote, but it is a respite of huge trees, quiet streams and a shaded lake. The entrance is a building where a small fee is paid to a friendly, knowledgeable staff. Though all of the trails add up to only a few miles, it took me hours to meander through as I paused frequently to photograph colorful varieties of birds. The trails also have numerous benches and resting spots. One small out and a back leg of a trail climbs above the river bed. The view above the canopy is remarkable. Most notable species seen: Summer Tanagers Yellow-breasted Chat Vireos Song Sparrows Yellow Warblers Lucy’s Warbler Gnat-catchers Ladder-backed Woodpeckers (i’ll add photos)

Great desert hike. Easy for the first 1.5 miles, then a little more difficult to the bottom of the main ascent. The hike from the beginning of the ascent to the saddle is moderate, and from the saddle to the top is difficult. Took a little less than 2 hours from the 1st parking lot to the top, and about 1:15 down. Lots of small wildlife - rabbits, squirrels, lizards, doves, ravens, etc. Not a great summer hike, but the wind blew most of the time so it kept the temperature down. Although I noted "no shade," if you go in the morning, there's quite a bit of shade in the rocky overhangs before about 11am.

Great little trek, especially when you get to the water section. Strange how it pops up out of the ground and then disappears back into the sand about a mile later. We’ve been there several times and have always had a great time. Some of the sand is pretty loose and thick in certain areas.

Perfect. I go on a evoque on most off road trail. This was perfect. Not too short, not too long either. Went in the summer to avoid flooding areas but also get fun crossing the water and rivers. Very very small suvs should be okay during non rainy days.

Not very well marked but a very nice hike

so far this is one of my favorite trails in the valley. it's long enough that it feels like a bit of an adventure but short enough to fit it in an afternoon. it's steep enough to get the heart racing but not so steep as to risk breaking something... especially important if you're old like me.
