Did this hike with 4 kids under 6 because it said it was “kid-friendly” and thought it would be fun to see a cave. I, as an adult, loved the hike! But it was not kid-friendly. The first little bit was easy but becomes much harder as you go and you have to really watch the kids and their footing if you want them to go in the caves. But it was fun! I would just recommend it for older kids and up. Moderate would be a better rating.

We found this to be easier than cathedral. Both are worth it. No one at doe mountain this morning. It was spectacular and so quiet. I guess you gotta get high to get away from it all! Definitely worth the hike. Early morning is best!

Great hike that leads you on two adventures. Go up to the top and then hike down to the river. Parking is in the middle. Lovely day!

Love this hike. The views are worth it. Only downside is how busy it is at the top. People will stand in line to have their solo moment on the bridge and literally just make people wait until their 50 spread photo shoot is over. Unless you're like me and you walk across the bridge to sit at the end of it, out of their picture. Sorry, not sorry.

Very easy to get off the main trail! We were off track for about 30 minutes. If you ever question “is this the trail?” You’re not on it!! The main trail is about 3 ft wide the whole way. Pretty easy to cross the creek - need some balance at some parts. Would recommend wearing hiking boots and bring plenty of water!

Easy walking trail mostly on red sand. Highly recommend climbing the rock wall at the end of the trail - AMAZING views of Sedona!

Outstanding hike. End view worth the “stairs”. If you can hike Piestewa in Phoenix you can easily do this.

Overall really fun hike. Not too hard. There’s a lot of sun exposure for the first couple of miles so make sure to bring lots of water! The water features are worth the hike!

Exposed with little shade. Swimming in creek was the best part!

IT IS VERY DIFFICULT, a proper pack out is needed, water triple what you normally need due to the steep mountain climbs, proper hiking boots and trek polls. those things save your knees and the in some parts it's loose and slick. what for rain the hike becomes harder when it rains and the trail gets slicker. plan 5 hours round trip which should in could breaks in along the way and at the arch. That first steep hike up is the worst part, suck it up and do it. It down hill after that to the arch. rest for a bit and on your way back that hike back up is not too had not so steep but the poles really help you here. enjoy the scenery it takes the pain away. once at the summit it all down hill and moves fast watch for lightening. there is alot of areas there that shows lightening strikes alot in that canyon.

I cannot understand anyone rating thus hike, beliw a five star. Excellent condition. Amazing canyon walls. Beautiful.

This is also known as Shaman Cave! Loved this trail and the view is Absolutely Amazing! Do not turn off of 525C like the directions instruct you to do...follow 525C to 9530 and take that directly to the trail head. A 4x4 or higher vehicle is a must for the last half mile or so and there are a couple spots to park at the beginning of 9530 if you can’t make the drive up to the trailhead but it adds at least 1.5mi to the overall hike. Once at the trailhead, it is marked with piled up rocks...make sure you look for the rocks or you end up like I did on another tail going 2 miles in the wrong direction. it’s a short hike and easy .... I you wish to go to the cave....the small ledge can make some nervous. Totally worth the drive and the beautiful views are AMAZING!!!!!

You think you’re at the top. You in fact are not.

Great hiking trail but also quite populated. We started hiking at 12:30 on a Friday. Couldn’t finish the trail due to needing to meet up with family in town, but we will be back to do exactly that on another day. There is a $10 fee to get in to the parking area.

Beautiful scenery and not a terribly tough hike but it's incredibly dusty and pretty crowded..lots of fun crossing the creeks but there are a lot of other trails that have views just a beautiful without all the dust and crowds. Wear waterproof boots and expect to wait to cross the creeks as others will probably be lined up to go across as well. The trail is almost completely shaded as well so really nice on a hot day. Very family and dog friendly. If you're looking for solitude this is NOT the hike for you. I suggest hiking poles as there are a lot of crossings and it can get slippery in spots.

We enjoyed this hike. Merry Go Round is beautiful.

Hard to imagine the views in Sedona getting much better than this. Easy to find the trailhead - just follow the rough dirt 'road' that is accessible only by high-clearance SUVs.

It's a rather easy walk to the vertical portion, and there is some minor scrambling to reach the top. So many trails in Sedona - we picked this one because of the uniqueness, and were rewarded with throngs of people just like us: the trail can be crowded and noisy.

We found this little 'trail' while heading to the Chapel of the Holy Cross. Not much of a hike, but cool to dive into the canyon and explore a bit. Not worth a stand-alone trip, but a good diversion.

great views, well maintained trail, start early to avoid heat!

Easy hike through a dried out creekbed. No waterfall at the end.

Great moderate hike with great views from the top.

Beautiful hike, best time would be in the morning this time of year, around 8.

Very beautiful. Highly suggest going early during tourist season because it is such a busy trail. Climbing required in a couple of spots to get to the very top, but the view from even half way is incredible. Sedona is nothing like you've ever seen before!

Ha ha, started this trail with my family. Scared the living daylights out of my two young girls . Made it about 5% in and they demanded we go somewhere else. Super fun from what I got to see. 2008 FJ Cruiser with 3 inch lift and off road tires.

This was for sure an easy hike to do with family, (kids and even dogs). My children loved it and they are 12 & 9 years old. I definitely recommend it.

I happened upon this trail after deciding my first choice was too far from my hotel in Flagstaff and am very happy with my decision. I drove the entire trail with an otherwise stock 1997 Cherokee XJ with 31” all terrain tires and 2” of lift with no problems at all. Four wheel drive is an absolute must on this trail and low range is recommended. We drove the trail in about three hours but did take our time driving and looking at the beautiful views about a mile and a half down the trail. I suppose you could drive the trail in under two if you really wanted to. I’m fairly confident that any modern wrangler JK or JL would be able to get through this trail. I did once hit my receiver hitch pretty hard coming down one obstacle but sustained no damage at all. I would definitely drive this trail again and recommend it to a friend. About 25 miles/45 minutes south of Flagstaff.

Great workout! Love the elevation gain and the remarkable scenery from the trail. at top is only a hundred and eighty degree visibility. Brush and trees cover the top facing Sedona but you can see Thunder Mountain Through the trees if you work at it and scrape your legs up in the brush.
