The 1.5miles are pretty flat and filled with mountain bikers. When you start on the Corona Trail it does have a nice steady incline and beautiful views in all directions. overall a good workout, but your kinda dodging bikers in the beginning and end.

Short but solid, steep hike... and lots of fun!! Views from up top...priceless!

Tons of steps with steep inclines at the start and end. Amazing views from the peak.

The trail is clearly marked, challenging and overall a good hike. The view on top is amazing especially if you make it up there by sunset.

We started on echo canyon side, up and over to Cholla trailhead, then back again. This hike puts the hardest quarter of the hike first. The overall trip was quite enjoyable. I handed out both of my spare waters. Always take generous amounts of water.

love it specially at night take a flashlight easy trail

4.9 mile hike. Parking is limited but they are currently adding a new parking area. We walked counterclockwise from the last parking lot. Trail around the mountain is loose rock and fairly easy for anyone that hikes. The trail up to the summit is a combination of rock steps and stable rock. Best best is get there early and never go on a weekend unless you want to wait and go slow because of the traffic. Multiple peaks and a great view of downtown Phx and the Glendale stadium. Watch out for the rouge squirrel, he tried to grab trash out of my backpack with me 3 ft away.

Great morning Saturday hike. They say it is “difficult” but I would say it is moderate. Definitely bring a good amount of water for the heat. Trail is a challenge for non avid hikers but totally doable. Very enjoyable for a quick morning hike!

Loved this trail. Had easy going options, but easy to go off trail and hit the peak! Highly recommend for a moderate hike.

As a beginning hiker I found the trail a bit strenuous but manageable. It’s not very scenic but does have some cool rock structures. Would be pretty at sunset I suppose. Lots of flies/nats which were super annoying.

The overcast made this hike a breeze. Only one person from my meet up showed up, but we had good conversation. Made the hike in pretty good time.

Was a perfect day to be out on the trails!

Limited parking at the trailhead but that makes this a fantastic choice. Very quiet trail except when it overlaps with the national which is heavily trafficked but you’re not on that for long. Good for trail running. Beautiful sights.

3rd hike with 20# vest to the peak

Nice trail. sadly I must have bumped my recorder. it didn't record the whole trail. very quiet trail. really enjoyed it.

The first half mile is great for trail running. Seemed like it would be easy at first but proved to be a decent workout! Pretty view from the highest point. Good place to stop & rest. Not too busy on a Saturday evening.

Beautiful hike, great exercise, blissful solitude. Be prepared with plenty of water I’d say at least 3L and a snack. Use the toilet before starting. The hike reveals the true beauty of our desert but that means the vegetation is scant and shrubby; not many areas along the long hike to attend to nature’s calls. The trail is well marked and kept but there are a couple of spots where I really relied on my AllTrails app to keep me on track.

very jagged rocks throughout trail but overall very great!

Super great views and well maintained..a lot of bikers though so be mindful when hiking/running

Great trail with what I consider gradual inclines rather than hiking straight up. Nice views all around. Saw a large horned lizard, at least I think he was horny.

Tons of trails that will still lead you back to the nature trail. I just loved every second of exploring and can’t wait to explore more of the Phoenix Mountain Preserves! I soooo love this app to help keep me on track too!!

Loved this trail!!! The first half was easy and direct but once you get to ridgeline, it’s way to confusing. Even with the all trails map up the whole time I still had to turn around 3 times. But I will keep doing this trail because it’s so beautiful in the morning 6-8 am

A nice under 5 mile hike very near downtown Phoenix. A good choice if you are a hiker and want more than the popular little strolls but only have a morning to work with. The Mormon trailhead entrance is about a mile of uphill (1100 foot elevation gain) with some light scrambling in places. Great views of Phoenix. The Mormon loop/National trail proceeds to the left. It’s a 2.5 mile loop. It loses (and then regains) about 700 feet of elevation. So, if you have had enough climbing once you first get to the top, go to the right and do the hidden Valley trail instead. I saw lizards, birds, chipmunks, and no bees. I encountered a fellow hiker about every 2-5 min. On a weekday. The National trail loop portion is heavily used by bicycles. I dodged maybe 25 in the 2.5 mile loop. So, expect to be traveling with no-one immediately around you, but certainly not solitude. There should be a word for that. In summary, it fully met my expectations and I enjoyed it very much.

If you get off the main trail and take a single person hike to the top, I would rate this hard. There are a lot of switch backs but a lot of scrambles too with at least three foot upward passages over granite rocks. While this is a short hike up, going down can be treacherous, once again skipping the main trail. The best part is there are few people. Lots of quail and an occasional hawk. Lots of snake holes but didn’t see any.
