This is Passage 3 of the 800 mile Arizona Trail (AZT). Passages on the AZT are point to point, you will probably need to make transportation arrangements for insertion and/or extraction if you are not through hiking. GPS is highly recommended. Potable water is the exception not the norm. Some passages can be done in a day, most require overnight backpack planning. Be prepared and plan ahead. Starting at the Canelo Pass Trailhead, this passage takes you up and down the rugged cinnamon colored hills of this part of Arizona. Murky water in need of filtration is available in the horse trough at Red Bank Well year-round, but be prepared to pack all your water needs from the start of the trail. If there is no water in the trough, lower the float to get water flowing. This passage terminates in the lovely town of Patagonia - the Trailhead of AZT Passage 4. Show more

Missed turn off for Old Baldy trail, followed 'Vault Mine Trail' (USFS 77) and took 'Carrie Nation trail (USFS 78). USFS says trail ends at the mine (Carrie Nation mine?-- tunnel in rock at a water fall, some old equipment laying around), but trail continues (Very steeply!) on up the ridge to connect with the Aqua Caliente Trail. Recording stopped I guess when I took some pictures?Show more
