First section is rather unpleasant walking as the surface is quite loose, however once the ascent is commenced the effort is rewarded

This is a review of this trail only (and not Deem Hills Ridgeline). This trail is good if you're trying to add length, but it puts you off of the actual mountain for at least a mile and a half, which makes it a real dull walk for that span. I recommend the circumference to ridgeline. Great trail!

We run this trail often. It has the right amount of hills, flat and down hill sections to get a nice run in. It has bathrooms and drinking fountains at the main parking lot. At mile 3 there is a Ramamda and it has a drinking fountain too. Nice trail.

Great hike with nice scenery. I went counter clockwise and noted that I probably went the most difficult way first.

Thunderbird Mountain is totally jazzy. I went up Arrowhead first and then became curious and followed the bridge to Cholla Loop. I didn't know exactly what I was in for, but it was a good workout. Cholla Loop has no shade, so make sure to wear some solid sunblock and stay hydrated. This trail felt like it took forever, when in reality it took me about 80 minutes. Like at Arrowhead Point, there is a flag at the summit, and it's a good hike overall. Scenic? Eh, not as much.

It was the first cool weekend of autumn and the hikers were out in force. It was difficult to find a parking space in the west parking lot. I decided to start going north and instead of taking the Circumference Trail the entire way, I branched off to the Basalt trail to Palisades and back to Circumference Trail for a total of 5.7 miles. Steady incline and very rocky in places, so a good workout. Scenic views were average and I felt that the Basalt trail had the best views.

Nice, moderate 3+ Mike hike which loops around Thunderbird Mountain between 55th Ave and 59th Ave on Pinnacle Peak Road. Better to park on 55th Ave as there is more parking space, and just cross the road near the signal, which immediately takes you to Cholla Loop.

Moderate rating is accurate. I would suggest hiking the loop clockwise. This will provide a more gradual incline to the summit. Descending is with less small rocks and scree.

This trail offers moderate elevation gain and no shade, but offers great views of the basin. In summer months hit the trail early. Trail is rocky in places.

One of my favorite scenic trails. It’s about 2 hours and a good steady hike and it’s quiet.

This is a great trail for beginners.

Good cardio work out. This was the first time for me on this hike. I will do it again.

A great and well marked trail that took us about 2.5 hours to complete with a few breaks to hydrate. We started at the park trail head (West) at 6 am. A lot of beautiful desert scenery on this moderate-easy trail including a view of I-17 and the CAP canal.

Fun hike, a bit rocky :)

Good day hike. Gets hot mid day.

Loved this hike! So many different types of scenery. Nice that there was water about half way through to refill our bottles.

Love doing this hike before work and see the sun rise from the top! Easy up but don’t think it’s well marked.

love you Trail walk it with my dog once a week

This is one of my regular hikes. There are crowds on the weekend, but during the week if I have a chance I love this trail. It is well maintained and a good workout. It's also great for trail running. Bring your dog, but keep an eye out for chuckwallas, and snakes.

I enjoyed this hike. I wouldn’t call it moderate in difficulty except for the rocky nature of the hike. I’d go again if I lived closer but it wasn’t a hike that I’d travel from the east valley to do again.

We like to hike this trail during the week before 3:00...weekends can get crowded, especially parking.
Today when we hiked this trail, we only had to pick up 2 plastic bottles, so pretty clean considering there shouldn't be any littering.
Great trail for a good workout...easy/moderate- a little over 3.5 miles... watch your footing- loose rock... Happy Hiking!

OK trail with some elevation, but not enough to get a serious cardio workout. Lots of loose rubble which makes for slippery footing at times. I like to hike this loop, then walk across the picnic area and hike the Sunrise, Coachwhip, Ridgeline Trail. Restrooms and water on site.

Got smoked on this trail! SUCH a good workout no matter which trail you take. I’ve mixed it up quite a bit and have gotten really warped! Good times. Be sure to bring a snack or two if you plan on staying for the longer hikes. I definitely got hungry and was desperate for energy.

Great workout with some elevation. Love the flag at the summit. A lot of loose rock with was a bit challenging but nice trail. Will definitely do again.
