I went hiking with my boyfriend and our dog today. He is about 28 pounds and this trail was not difficult at all for him, especially being his first time hiking. There are some steep short ledges that can be scary when a biker comers around the corner. Make sure you keep an eye on your pooch as there are many cacti along the trail. Great day!

There is a lost dog, she is tan colored, about 50 pounds, long haired, possibly a shepherd or husky mix. She was spotted here about an hour ago. If you see her, please call her owner- Jon @ 480-593-5029. She is posted as missing in the Next Door App. Her name is Sierra, she is skiddish and has been missing since Friday. Thank you.

Very poor markings on trail, got a little lost but all in all beautiful hike, good running/biking trails.

This was a 7.7 mile trail from the trailhead. I would start right and end from the left. I started to the left and it was a very easy start with a hard ending. Tons of rocks on the end of the trail.

I can’t imagine running it in the summer, but in November this was absolutely incredible. Not well marked, but once you look at the map closely and pay attention to where other trails intersect and divert, it’s pretty straightforward. If I would have had more time I would have done it twice. Pretty rocky in multiple spots so it makes running it difficult, but plenty of runable space. Loved this trail!

PLEASE NOTE: If you are hiking, biking or on horseback you DO NOT NEED a permit.
If you are going to DRIVE in Bulldog you MUST have a permit.
Bulldog permits are FREE
Gate codes are changed monthly but the permit comes with gate codes for 6 months.
(If the beginning/end of the month is on a weekend or holiday, the codes may be changed on the next business day, so it's good to renew your permit before the last month)
Permits are available at the Ranger station (Ingram & Higley) or ONLINE at:
https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/tonto/recreation/ohv/?cid=stelprdb5348179

IMPORTANT: Anytime you find the gate open or unlocked, CLOSE IT & LOCK IT!
NOTE FOR ALL VEHICLES: There are only 5 legal routes in all of Bulldog. All are MARKED with a route number. If you see a route with no route marking, it is OFF-LIMITS to ALL vehicles. While the Forest Service keeps placing signs designating where NOT to drive, unfortunately we have too many folks who remove/drive over/destroy the signs.

Please take care of OUR public lands, show consideration for others and don't litter. Let's keep the area so it will be enjoyed by our children/grandchildren and all future generations!
Thanks!

Great 7.7 Mile Hike Yesterday! The views were amazing starting Left onto Trail. If you want more of an incline workout I’m told to start Right on to Trail. $7.00 fee/bathrooms at Trailhead. Loved it!!!

Good distance, not much of a challenge elevation/incline wise. The path can get a little confusing at times but is pretty easy to follow if you have your phone.

Great biking trail! Connects to a lot of options and skill level trails.

Trail needs some work. Actually 7.7 miles.

With all the zig zagging that goes on , on this Trail and when you count your steps and measure it out it's more like 11 miles rather than just six.

Free parking along the side of the road. I wasn’t able to find exactly where the app wanted me to start the trail so I followed some bikers and found it. Be aware the trail seems to be primarily a biking trail, so be on the look out while hiking. Views are pretty but not a huge fan of the conditions, it is awkward at times walking on the trail since it’s heavily trafficked by mountain bikes. The trail is point to point, so if you want to go back to your car double it. I only went about half way or so and turned around so it was 4 miles for me.

Amigos was really more a wash than a trail. The ground was soft and muddy & pretty lackluster. I gave it 2 stars because I was able to see 2 coyotes run across the wash while we were trekking along.

Beautiful morning trail run. Decently marked and trails are well defined. All trails has it listed as 5.7 and Garmin Forerunner 935 had the run at 6 Miles.

Took my three year old on this hike and she loved it. It’s a cute little park that appears to be great for mountain biking, but also offers some dirt trails for both biking and hiking. It’s a great hike for taking the kids.

Beautiful day and incredible views.

Incredible hike! One of the best in this area!!
It is, however, a looong 7 miles. Go up the west side first to the saddle. It tends to be a bit boring until you start up toward the saddle. The ascent is not nearly as steep as people portray it to be. The saddle is, surprisingly, rather flat at the top. Great place for a picnic or break.
I cannot stress enough how important it is to go up the west side first because the back side of the mountain has some of the most beautiful views I have seen in a long time! There are no houses or buildings in the valley there, and you will be “awed” most of the way as you encircle a great portion of the mountain from high up. The only thing you need to be careful of is that there is lots of gravel. Take a stick or pole, and of course plenty of water and a snack.
Save the best for last by going up to the saddle first and come down on the back side.

This was a good easy hike. The day was clear and beautiful.

Really solid hike. Good workout, beautiful views. Not much parking on weekends, it gets busy.

Last whoa before hiking Grand Canyon R 2 R next weekend. Hiked both directions. .....awesome for distance!

More geared for mountain bikers since there is a little obstacle course in the center of the park. Walk around the perimeter of park was decent but didn't fully satisfy my hike fix.

I did this in my 3\4ton extended cab short box Chevy 2" lift and 33's wasn't too bad didn't bottom out at all. I took the FR10 trail after a rainstorm no mud it was almost pure rock, very bumpy. Not much for views.

It seemed like the trail was washed away from the rains of monsoon season. We got a mile into the trail and seemed to get turned around and could t stay in the trail even with the maps help. We decided to call it and head out. Frustrated as it was a beautiful morning on the second day of fall.

Friend I just drove this, coming in the day after a big rainstorm. No mud at all, but also no dust. We were both in Toyota Tacoma’s—mine which is a 4x4 and his which a 2WD (although it does have rear locker). Couple parts where you need the right line and to take it slow but neither of us needed to use my trucks 4WD.

Some views of Four Peaks, but the trail is very confusing as others have pointed out. It’s a mix of established trails with some mountain bike paths and a bit of bushwhacking included. I didn’t like to have to cross the road or walk in the washes either.

Limited myself to an hour this morning due to the heat. Am adding this to my list of weekend hikes starting earlier in the day! This morning I only did the trail along the fence portion (made it an out and back). Moderate bike traffic so was mindful of stepping aside as they were coming through the trail fairly quickly. Quickly came across a coyote on the trail during my return trip!

Just ran this trail yesterday in a stock 2001 Grand Cherokee. This is not an easy trail unless you’re in a lifted rig with big tires and even then its a challenge. (I need to note that it had stormed hard the night before and the entire trail was heavy mud and rock down in the washes) The scenery is awesome, way better than I expected. We entered the trail from the Usery Pass gate and finished at the Apache Trail exit. I probably won’t run this trail again after heavy rain until I get a lift and some skid plates. In dry conditions it's probably a moderate trail.

took my DRZ out for a first time ever off road ride. This trail (I took 10 and 3554 entirely) was quite a workout! I would put this as an above average start for someone who hasn't been off road but knows the basics of riding and has been on road for a while. the DRZ handled it just fine and the views were spectacular. if anything, I'd do it again just for the view! for now, I may try to find something a bit more beginning friendly for my second ride. pretty sore after this one. great trail though!

This trail is what you would expect. Its fairly easy however there is a small portion on the mountain itself that is slightly difficult, but beginners would still be okay. This is a personal preference but I hated that it was almost a mile to the actual hike, the hike itself, then another 'almost mile' back out. This trail is 3/4 desert walking (very little shade) and 1/4 hike.
