There’s not a cave at the top. Don’t feel it even warrants the name Wind Cave Trail because it’s more of a spot where the upper part of the mountain overhangs the lower part; kind of an indent in the mountain. However, great view from up there. Really well maintained trail and a good short hike. Took me, up and back about 2 hours, but I was taking my time and enjoying the views. Not a difficult hike, there’s a moderate incline. You do have to pay a park fee to do this hike, which is $7 per car. So because of the fee and the fact that there’s not a cave at the top, I give this one a 3 star. Other than that, it’s a nice scenic hike with a great view of the Phoenix area from the top.

Easy mile hike. Took about 25 mins. Nice scenery. Good for families. If you want something more challenging, go elsewhere.

Gave it 4 stars for all the wild horses that I was lucky enough to encounter. Nice and pretty trail besides.
I did the double and went both ways, though I somehow only clocked that to be 9.5 miles.

A nice moderate hike up to a cave. Last time I did this hike there were bees all over the cave. None this time though, probably too cold.

The trail is easy until up to the 2nd half. It’s very rocky also. Had a great time doing this hike! Also only saw about 5 other hikers. It was a really nice and quiet hike.

Great trail to hike. My dad and I enjoy going here when we hike since it isn’t too far from where we live. It is fun and was great for my 50 lbs pit bull who has never hiked.

Perfect morning for magnificent views. Not a thing I can complain about on this hike. Trails are in good shape. There are a few rocky spots but nothing too bad. watch for a few spots where the desert has grown into to trail a bit and have a great time.

Spent the morning alone @ Bulldog Saddle which is a refreshing change from the Superstitions this time of year. The only sounds were the wind, birds, my feet, & the ice bouncing around in my hydroflask! I was kind nervous that this rocky incline was going to disappoint but it didn’t. The views at the top are amazing. This hike has a gradual incline until the end where it’s a bit more steep but not difficult. The only issue I could see people having are slipping or rolling their ankle from not being careful on the rock. There’s not really any shade either so water is a must.

Was an excellent hike and quite easy. Trail was well maintained. A little to crowded for my liking but it was day after Thanksgiving. Next time I will go during week.

Amazing hike! You are definitely hiking a mountain but man do you feel accomplished at the top when your looking out at the view! I've hike this twice almost exactly a year a part and the first year there were a bunch of bee hives this year not the same problem. The second time was definitely easier than the first! I'll probably do again next year around the same time!

Pretty easy trail. Lots of Cholla (cactus with lots of stickers!) so this is not a trail for dogs or kids unless they are trained to stay away from the Cholla! There is parking at the intersection of McDowell and Chrismon roads if you want to skip the fee.

Great trail, it starts easy then gets pretty steep. It is a well marked trail with many beautiful views along the way. I have taken my kids up this trail! It costs $$$ to get in the park. I believe it is $6 per car so load up all your friends for better value!

One of my favorite hikes in Arizona. It is a very good hike for training and learning hiking fundamentals only lacking trail blazing and rock scrambling (basically where you have to climb because it is to steep) it’s also very good at teaching foot placement and is a fun and beautiful hike in general. I recommend going early in the morning during winter for an optimal hike and make sure that you bring hiking boots and at least one liter of water (I’d recommend 2 just in case) also have at least two and a half hours to spare if it’s your first time hiking this trail and you don’t go hiking or participate in other cardio vascular physical activity often. But if you’re an avid hiker this hike could probably be completed in an hour.

I love this hike. Beautiful views not very difficult! Don’f orget to buy a Tonto pass.

I went hiking with my boyfriend and our dog today. He is about 28 pounds and this trail was not difficult at all for him, especially being his first time hiking. There are some steep short ledges that can be scary when a biker comers around the corner. Make sure you keep an eye on your pooch as there are many cacti along the trail. Great day!

Pretty easy hike. Other reviewers are right, lots of cacti over the trail, especially at the end. It’s not that hard to navigate safely through it though. Got a lot busier toward 9-10am as we were exiting. Pretty views of the lake and a few tree overhangs but not much other than that.

There is a lost dog, she is tan colored, about 50 pounds, long haired, possibly a shepherd or husky mix. She was spotted here about an hour ago. If you see her, please call her owner- Jon @ 480-593-5029. She is posted as missing in the Next Door App. Her name is Sierra, she is skiddish and has been missing since Friday. Thank you.

Went hiking with wife, kids, and cousin on our first long distance hike of the season to practice building up distance endurance. Only thing that was really disappointing with this trail is how the desert plants are not kept trimmed back from the trail and it can be tricky (and painful) to maneuver through some areas of the trail. Lots of great wildlife to be found along the way and the view of the lake is worth the trip out here. No horses or rattlesnakes today, but my daughter found a tarantula of decent size which was a pleasant surprise for us.

Amazing hike. A lot of people on a Sunday but everyone very friendly going up and down. The park ranks it a black diamond however I have hike way way harder black diamond trails throughout AZ.

Very poor markings on trail, got a little lost but all in all beautiful hike, good running/biking trails.

Awesome little hike. Great photo opportunities. You can see the fountain in Fountain Hills running from the cave if the timing is right.

Great trail, beautiful view!

Great biking trail! Connects to a lot of options and skill level trails.

Relatively easy hike, but beautiful scenery. We arrived at around 8:30 in the morning an there were quite a few people already on the trail. Trail was in most parts easy to follow, but not marked that great, worth the trip, would definitely do it again if we are ever in this neck of the woods again.

It's a favorite go to trail for me! It was relatively quiet today- a late morning Friday with beautiful weather.
