This isn't a maintained trail and is accessible only through Canyon Pass private property. Trail head was informally put in place when Marana trail workers were building out the Ridgeline Trail...and one can still take the steep, but short hike up to Ridgeline from here. The loop part shown on the map are just animal trails. Due to the wild horses in this area, there are numerous paths to follow throughout this area.

The first 3 miles of the trail is awesome ! great scenery, tons of petrified wood and a moderately challenging hike. The rest was kinda lame... Hiking through the resort and along the road. Next time I'll turn around half way and enjoy the best part twice.

Great morning hike! Recommend starting up Alamo springs to start and finishing on the valley floor. Will definitely do it again. Great views of Tucson, resort area and deeper in virgin views of canyon.

I enjoy this hike when at The Ritz-Carlton. Not at all strenuous and minimal elevation.

Beautiful hike with a well maintained and marked trail. Loved this hike!

They call it “Upper” Javelina for a reason! I’m a seasoned hiker, yet I struggled on the steep and continuous climb! At one point, I was scaling boulders—something for which I was not prepared. Consequently, I cut my hike short by taking the Hotel Spur Trail, which offers a shortcut back to the hotel. Tip: Grab a map at the trailhead and study it. The trails are color-coordinated. Once you figure that out, you’re good to go! Such a beautiful trail and a great workout!

Great easy warmup hike for a first time Tucson area hiker. Offers some cool views and a good opportunity to familiarize a first timer with the surrounding terrain.

Too much walking in the washes at the beginning, although maybe that’s a personal preference. Once you got into the mountains more it was very pretty but the first couple miles were through the wash, which I wasn’t a fan of. The trail(s) were tricky to find at some points. Wear layers- it was chillier than expected up there. I also would not categorize this as a hard hike- more moderate for sure. Was not too challenging although there were small spurts that were steep at times.

Not accessible to the public. Private property. Zero Stars.

Great hike. It was raining. Very beautiful

Trailhead is within a resort hence the restricted road use in the directions. But very friendly and gave directions to lot. We opted to connect to upper javelina then to wild mustang and back on wild burro. 8 miles. Not as ‘hard’ as I would’ve expected. Rabbit, birds, lizards. Not too crowded even for a Saturday.

Great hike with our pooch! Beautiful trail and views. So much petrified wood. Must have been an ancient forest. Interesting rock formations. Will hike this trail again.

Usually I enter this trail from Lower to Upper Javelina. Initial trail hike begins in wash, climbing west out of the wash a couple miles in. Another option on this trail is to cross the wash east a tad further down and take Alamos trail south back to trailhead merge/resort area. Alamos trail popular with resort guests and dogs as you near end.

Nice elevation change with good views of the valley and south to the Tucson Mountains.

Awesome hike very expansive views. A total of over 10 miles from WIld Burro Trail Head.

Love this hike!

This hike is a great workout! That first mile up gets your heart pumping.

I would not recommend bringing dogs on this trail because the terrain is rough. We ran into some people with a dog and it was panting like crazy and I'm sure its paws were scratched up. The dog's owner looked like he also shouldn't have been out on that trail and I wanted to scream at him for subjecting his dog to this discomfort. What is wrong with people?

Anyway, I highly recommend this hike for people only. :)

Awesome trail with beautiful views, well marked!

Great trail did a combo from Upper Javlina to the Community trail to Lower Javalina back to WIld Burro Trailhead for a total of 8.3 miles...

Went from Wild Burro to Wild Mustang...10 miles. Great views some nice climbing...top of the Tortalitta Mts.

Almost whole thing is within site of hotel. Nice view near top.

This trail is private so I couldn't even get it. Any tips on how to get in?

Great, beautiful hike! We got lucky with cloud coverage in the morning so the heat wasn't that bad. I'm glad we followed the Alamo Springs trail first rather than following Wild Burro first. Wild Burro was just the floor of the canyon where Alamo Springs was a beautiful, rocky hike. A swarm of bugs kept following us which was a nuisance but this was very enjoyable!

Went on this trail for National Trail Hike this year. Not an experienced hiker, a bit of struggle. Was incredible beautiful scenery! Definitely jump started my interest in hiking!!

Beautiful trail - lots of blooms right now

Compared to the previous reviewer, we parked at the Wild Burro Trailhead lot and walked NW towards the resort. It was a bit tricky to find but we located the trail across the street. I recall following the Javelina trails for approximately 1 mile until we saw the sign to Cochie Trail. Beautiful and challenging hike with lots of "climbing" for an awesome workout!
