Best wildlife trails in Greer, Arizona

This is a popular high altitude route in eastern Arizona. The peak of Mount Baldy is in the jurisdiction of the Mountain Apache Reservation, so hikers cannot reach it without permission. This loop starts on the East Baldy Trail, then returns on the West Baldy Trail. The hiker returns to the parking area via the Mount Baldy Crossover Trail. This loop can also be started several miles north of the trailhead shown here, at the West Baldy Trailhead. Take the West Baldy Trail then return via the East Baldy Trail. This trail is lightly traveled and has excellent views of the Greer Valley from Amberian Point. The trail then follows along a ridge with views of the East Fork of the Little Colorado canyon. The East Fork #95 trailhead is at the south end of main street at the point it turns into a dirt road. Ample parking is just beyond the trailhead. There is a log bridge over the river from May to October. In .3 miles you will see a sign for Amberian Point. Then it is .2 miles to Amberian Point. Continue on the trail and keep climbing to the top of the next point. It is best to hike in a clockwise direction because the trail markers are easier to see. Show more
