A amazing building here! You can get a self-guide in the visitor center. The describe on the guide is very detailed. I learned a lot in this hiking. There is one room that you can enter. Don't miss it.

It's easy but I'm not sure what to see in this trail.

Walk to the bottom of the crater. The red mountain top of the crater is beautiful and impressed.

You can walk along the rim to see the walnut canyon, while the scene is not very featured.

It's so interesting! Many rooms under the rocks. It's funny to live here.

More of a tourist walk than a hike, but so interesting to learn about the living conditions and culture of the Sinagua tribe and how they lived during the 1100s and during the period when the San Francisco peaks were active volcanos.

The steps will get the heart pumping.

There is a $10 fee per person as it is a national monument. If you are looking to hike Walnut Canyon, there are other more authentic trails.

Easy trail with good views of the canyon below

Lots of stairs, but we did this with children (ages 8-12) and they did it no problem. Fun with lots to look at on the way. Would definitely do it again.

Very interesting that people could live in that environment. Absolutely would take this walk again.

Great hike and so interesting! The views are pretty spectacular, too. We made it with 3 kids, easy enough.

Trail closes at five pm. So that was sad.

Nice walk. Lots of wildlife. Good info from the rangers. Take it slow coming back up esp. if it’s hot out.

Nice Easy little hike, very scenic❣️Saw a Falcon or Hawk in flight.

An easy walk with great views

Nice quick walk! So different from the Grand Canyon but as beautiful to explore. I do not recommend for people who cannot handle stairs. My mom had a hard time going back up. But easy for most.

Was worth the drive from flagstaff, was very interesting to see the hardened lava, a lot more people on this trail than the other ones around it.

Went out today expecting a lot of cooler ruins. Was also very hot and windy. Would not recommend the 18 to drive from the sunset crater.

We hiked the 1 mile lava hike that was rated moderate as well as the flat and easy lava flow trail. The uphill on the lava hike was not too bad. .5 mile pretty steep grade, but the view at the top is worth it due to the supernatural look and feel of the area on top. The trail won’t seem strenuous for anyone who does a fair amount of hiking. The easy trail was awesomely fun too - a garden of lava everywhere you look.

Way cool once in a lifetime type of trail where you’re in the thick of a some 900 years+ of lava flow and the impact it’s left behind to nature. It’s absolutely captivating albeit a very short trail. Feel like another world in there frozen lava flow.

The cliff dwelling make it worth dealing with crowds. Good quick “walk”, more than a hike. The stairs are the only thing that will get you a little winded.

This was an awesome unexpected hike. We stopped by because it was close and we needed to kill some time, but it ended up being a highlight!!! The kids loved the Indian ruins and they really are super cool!!!! But, wow...A LOT of stairs! My kids (11, 8, 5) did this but it was tiring! Plus, there are some areas that do not have railings. As a mom I was stressed in parts, but I would do it again. But I wouldn’t recommend for younger kids unless they are being carried.
