We took this trail based on other reviews that said it was good for off-road driving. Negative. This road is mostly paved with a few dirt roads thrown in. Would never call this off-road driving. The area around this road is beautiful but no need to bring an OHV or a 4x4 truck as this is a very easy road to the lakes. Would be a good road for bike riding or just a scenic drive but not for off-road driving.

Trail was a little muddy but it rained last night. Great views and saw 3 deer. Not much shade so it got hot once the sun came out. Nice, steady inclines and declines.

Easy to moderate grades. Near town but secluded enough.

I have to give this trail one star due to safety ratings. I wouldn’t recommend this trail to anyone, especially those with dogs. The trail is riddled with rattlesnakes!! There are a lot of RATTLESNAKES!!! I was less than one mile in before I encountered my first rattlesnake before a family was walking back because they had seen another rattlesnake right up the trail. I was carrying a big stick so I was able to remove the snake from the trail so the family could comeback through. Please do not go on this trail for your safety. The views are not that great. It’s not worth the risk.

I would love to give this trail five stars because of the beautiful scenery, wildlife, and views, but I can not recommend it for this time of year. I encountered 4 rattlesnakes my whole trip. Each directly on the trail, each rattled and coiled up every time I came within 10 feet. Only 1 moved out of my way, and there is no alternate paths that are not overgrown. To see their locations, look on my recording in the 3 areas where I had to stand for 10+ minutes staring down an angry rattlesnake. Other than that, this is one of the best lakeside trails I’ve hiked In AZ (:

Hidden gem. Great trail for a nature hike. Definitely recommend going in the morning. It’s was hot by noon when we finished (but jumped in the lake to cool off). Lots of rolling hills. We did 8.5 round trip. Trail well maintained for the first 3 miles. Not used much after that as the brush growth covered a lot of the trail. And didn’t see a soul out or back on the 8 miles on a Sunday!

One of our favorites, not the most challenging of courses, but an absolutely beautiful hike. Alongside the Bartlett Reservoir, you have constant views of the water, and wildlife around the water, along with numerous paths down to the shore if you wish to take a dip or break from the hike. A lot of up and down, but nothing too intense, the course is well defined, and pretty easy to navigate around. The flowers, when in bloom, are amazing, and smell fantastic. If you get to the right points along the trail, where it ascends high enough from the shore, you get this magic combination of wild flowers, driftwood from the lake, and the smell of water - it can't be beat.

Only did 5 or so miles. SUPER peaceful and hardly saw a soul, besides some bikers. Really nice change of pace from Pinnacle Peak and the crowds.

great view. plenty of pavement with exception of horseshoe Rd. pavement ends near end of trail to seven springs.

Absolutely beautiful wild flowers! Even the drive to the lake was pretty

Beautiful hike along Bartlett Lake, wild flowers are spectacular! We got to the hike at Rattlesnake Cove, just up from the marina. You need to have a day pass to park, there is a kiosk on Barlett Dam Road just before the turnoff to Rattlesnake Cove. The path is easy to follow, the trail is narrow, lots of ups & downs on loose rock.

Beautiful wildflowers now, great lake views. Trail is closer to 9 miles if you include the loop on the end. Elevation is misleading because you are constantly ascending and descending. The trail is strewn with small rocks which makes for slower progress and difficult hiking surface. This trail is worth the effort but the first few miles are the best.

The trail is at least a couple of miles longer than indicated here and there’s zero shade, so be prepared! Tons of wildflowers right now so it’s extra beautiful right now :)

I did one of many loops. This was Latigo to Rock Tank to Powerline. Exactly three miles on the newly rolled part of Latigo. Lots of work being done from this trail head. Looks boating from the parking but it is far from it and mostly easy trails

WET hike! Explored this trail because of an old AZ Hwys article. There were pretty poppy flowers about 2 miles into the hike but had to trudge through a lot of mud. So many more pretty hikes to do in and around the valley.

Very scenic lake. Trail is adequately marked in most places. Lotsa up & down over sand/gravel surface. Not a cardio challenge so much, just make sure your not on roller skates. Would def recommend it. Feb 2019

Beautiful views of the lake for much of the hike. Lots of “up-and-down” on this sandy trail. It goes through many washes so we temporarily lost the trail once in a while but always found it again. On a calm, sunny day the water views are gorgeous.

Stunning and beautiful, narrow paths for a dog to walk next to you. But overall great scenery, definitely going back
