Awesome trail but had to turn around halfway because of the snow depth. Worth the trip.

We could not have asked for a better day to do this hike! Not a cloud in the sky, a bit breezy as you may assume, but phenomenal. We hiked all the way down to portage lake and were close to the glacier. Stopped along the way and breakers at the bottom and took us about 3.5 hours in total. Definitely would recommend to everyone

Stunning! Only made it to the top lookout as it was getting dark, but the views were amazing. Steep hike up for the first mile, but from there you get a nice view of the glacier and valley.

This is a long, flat hike. Well marked and maintained trail. Passed many people, a few campgrounds, bear and fox scat, saw a grouse, moose and beautiful glacier views. Heading out looks different from returning. So glad to have gone, will do it again!

Favorite part of our entire Honeymoon in Alaska was this breathtaking trail. I mean it literally took our breath away with expert trails and stunning views. We made it to the lake from Whittier but didn't make it to the glacier. We kayaked for 3 hours prior to this hike so we were quite tired. This was an amazing trail with ridiculously amazing views! Definitely check it out but anticipate getting your feet wet. Bring extra socks and shoes and maybe a walking stick.

Beautiful! The fall foliage colors are vibrant. Explore all the different peaks when you reach the bench, each peak represents a different view and they are all beautiful. Definitely recommend and would do again for sure.

Well worth the view of portage glacier! Make sure to stop every so often to appreciate the beautiful views on the way up.

One of my favorite trails for views. The first mile is straight up hill and pretty strenuous. But the view from the top is spectacular, to the east you have the Prince William Sound, and to the West a perfect view of the glacier. The rest of the hike is downhill and a little rocky. Coming back up isn't nearly as difficult as the first mile to the top, it's more of a gradual climb, but it is more technical.

The first part is about 1 mile straight uphill. The view from the top is very pretty though. The additional 1.5 miles to the glacier is worth it, but is also very steep and rocky.

This is one of the best hikes I’ve ever done! The first part is steep and rocky but completely manageable. The view of the glacier the entire is spectacular.

it's one of the toughest trails I have ever done. I am really serious about it. there are no clear path after some point. I took some completely different path and reached on the glacier from where the only big and log streak of waterfall emerges. later, I wasn't able to get down. lucky enough that we get mobile signals there and I called 911 and they rescued me. one piece of advise don't go alone and start very early in morning so that even if you missed out the trail you have enough time for trial and errors. hike has spectacular views.

Just finished this trail! It was a beautiful one. It begins going uphill for a bit but remember to look behind you for a great view. The view from the top is also well worth it. My friends and I continued around the lake to try to get as close as possible to portage glacier but there was deep running water that prevented that from happening. We are very happy we did this hike. We wanted to drive out that way today since the wildfires are so terrible elsewhere.
