Amazing trail, gorgeous all the way there and back. Views are well worth the constant uphill hike.

Not easy but the views from the summit are breathtakingly beautiful!!

First trail I did when I moved to Ketchikan!

Great easy hike with a nice view on top.

This trail was absolutely amazing! It was a little of a challenge for my husband and I, nothing we couldn't handle though. It is quite steep, has narrow walk points as well. The view points are fantastic! And if you're exhausted once you get to the top you'll have a gorgeous view to admire as you rest. I am 3 1/2 months pregnant and made it in 3 hrs 51 min. (took a few breaks) But if you have your mind set anyone can make it!

Easy trail. Just there are a lot of stairs at the beginning that needed to be climbed.

Easy and beautiful trail. My girlfriend and I did this trail fairly quickly while at port on our Alaskan Cruise. We walked to this trail head from Sweet Mermaids restaurant. The trail is kept up. You cross rocks, trees, small wooden bridges, and small streams/creeks. We entered the trail from 3rd Avenue and exited in the parking lot of University of Alaska Southeast. We walked back to the port from there. From Sweet Mermaids, the trail, and back to the port, 3.9 miles and 2 hours and 5 mins. I also stopped to take several photos on the way.

Hiked half of the Rainbird Trail, joining it at the steps above Third Ave. Great way to get some views if you are in Alaska and have limited time, but be warned - there are lots of steps to get up to the trail. Lots of shady woodland and some great views back on Ketchikan and the harbor. I'd planned to try the hike up to Deer Mountain but the iffy weather and lack of time kept me away. This was a great, much shorter, alternative with some nice views and a bit of elevation gain.

Good trail but its a pain to get to and its not the long or interesting of a hike. Considering its the most accessible in the port town for all those there for a day or less, its a good time.

Amazing views. We went to the top which is for sure a difficult hike. It was fun and my wife and I did some trail running on the few flat parts but most of it is large steps, unsteady terrain and steep drop offs. I would not bring kids or older individuals not accustomed to hard hiking.

If you are an avid hiker, like me, this is a moderate hike. There are many switchbacks that make this a very enjoyable mountain run. I did RT in about 2 hrs. Amazing view when the weather is nice!

Very nice trail, with many views of the lake, birds, squirrels, even large slugs! The huge trees are awesome! My brother showed us where to view spawning salmon during the month of August.

This was a great hike!! So close to downtown and well marked. It’s in a rainforest in Alaska! So cool.

Love this trail. Quick and easy but an amazing view! Perfect for dogs. Also, there are always many friendly people on the trail.

Good hike for a short Port Visit on a Cruise. The undeveloped section was not a problem and just a short distance before opening to a nice easy gravel trail. We would definitely hike it again.

This trail was the perfect way to stretch our legs after two days at sea. It features beautiful views of town and of the forrest. I would suggest grabbing an Uber at port and have them take you to the trailhead at the University. At the end of the hike, look for the public library, hang a right and take the steep road down and into town. This trail is not for strollers and will be a challenge for those without hiking boots. We witnessed several hikers in sneakers who struggled in the muddy, rocky, and steep areas.

The trail is great then view at the end is ok.

Uphill the whole way. Oof. Great views from the top, of course. Did round trip in 6-ish hours, including summiting, visiting shelter, eating lunch, and taking photos.

Nice trail! the last section of boardwalk was all icy & packed down by lots of hikers so it was a bit sketchy.

Good trail into some old forest. The lake is nice, but the woods are better. Did it on a rainy day (go figure) with a friend. We really enjoyed the stillness and silence of the rain forest. Didn't go all the way to the top, but it is a good, accessible walk from town.

Short beautiful green rainy hike. Easy hike wear hiking boots. Muddy.

We started at the college and passed the middle trail head to the end. Head east after steps to library and then down the road downtown. End up at 49er bar

Awesome hiking in Ketchikan, sure beats a cruise excursion. We overestimated how steep the hike was, as a result we only made it to the first lookout.
