Great afternoon winter walk. We took an hour and a half doing the loop. Pretty busy with fat bikes and cross country skiing but not to the point that it took away from the walk. No animal sightings. I look forward to walking this trail in the spring and summer!

I loved the trails but a little overwhelming as to which one to go on, they do have maps ect though. Beautiful scenery and quiet, but not too quiet if you're a person hiking solo you'll feel safe.

Really enjoyed this trail. Feel safe enough to bring the kids along next time and if u have a decent jogging stroller u can bring it on this hike ! Plenty of people around !

Beautiful in winter. good for hiking or fat biking. gentle rolling hills.

stunning views. easy trail to walk, run, hike or even bike

Foggy the whole time!! Got a peek of the mountains near the air strip. Will need to come back on a clear day . Very easy just long.

Always beautiful no matter the weather. Lots of hiking around. Great for kayaking during summer, unless it gets super windy. Sweet trail to ride your bike on too. Close to anchorage, really good ice cream shop on the road there.

super easy, really beautiful! great trail for the family, even if you have strollers. You can also 4-wheel all the way back to the glacier.

So very pretty in the fall!

Very nice evening hike. The trailhead begins at Baldy and continues along the ridge line. If you go to the top of the peak it is 6.5 miles round trip and took me about 2.5 hours total. Very pretty views and a beautiful sunset behind the Talkeetna mtns. Little Tupperware with a notebook to sign at the top. Beautiful September evening with a wind chill at the top, so if hiking in fall bring gloves. Good for trail running back to the bottom.

just finished this beautiful hike. me and my husband did it in about 2 hours with turn offs to the river a few times.

There's just a milieu of trails back here, do know where your going. I saw lots bear poop! Nice maintained trail.

Fairly easy, fun hike. Brought plenty of water and picnic food. Enjoyed immensely

The trail all the way to the lakes and back is more like 13-14 miles but it was a beautiful view! I want to go back and camp next time!

Quick little hike. Great for children. Well maintained. Mosquito spray is a must!!! The valley is lovely. Can be wet at times but was dry when we were there.

We very much enjoyed our first walk on the trail. Still having the remnants of a cold we only managed 2 miles but plan to return and bike Much more of it. We also plan to kayak as the water looks very inviting! People are mostly respectful with their dogs, being mindful to leash them as they pass our young children.

My most recent trip to Eklutna S.P. and the Eklutna Lakeside Trail was a leisure walk from the parking lot. In the past, I rode my bike and my 6-wheeler. Even though the trail splits back and forth for the walkers and bikers, and for the 4/6 wheelers, I do suggest going on days when the 4/6 wheelers are not allowed on the trail. If it is a dry day you might be fighting the dust from these vehicles. You should check, but the last time I looked, the 4/6 wheelers were allowed Sunday through Wednesday. The trail is very nice for all including small children, and the elevation is mostly flat. In recent years, the lake level has been a bit low, so you can explore all the dried and twisted tree trunks and limbs along the way. I do suggest bringing binoculars so you can see the bears and sheep above.

This was a beautiful trail! We took two dogs, a seven year old and a 7 week old in a front pack. We are traveled well through out the hike but it was longer than expected. Walking back from the lakes the kiddo decided he wanted to hitch a ride on his dad's back. A little long for little kids but very beautiful and easy to walk, just long.

Beautiful and very long. Next time I attempt I will dress better for the hike. Was around 78 and I decided to wear jeans...bad idea. At the halfway point I was dead. Three bottles of water was not enough. Lots of people and dogs on the trail and everyone was friendly.

Completed this hike with a local friend of mine. The trail was great and the scenery even better. The only negative that I saw was the trash. I'll never understand why people can't pack out what they pack in.
I'm glad we went in on a Sunday as there weren't any crowds, but on our hike out on Monday we passed a few large groups of backpackers on their way to adventure.

Trail near the river was flooded out, made for an added adventure crossing some small log bridges. As usual per the area, mosquitoes were abundant! Great evening hike!
