Moderately trafficked area with more commercialization than desired at the trail head, but the views and scenery were still incredible! It’s a short hike, relatively easy. The hike takes you out and back along the edges of the river, back into some beautiful rock formations.

This trail shows off Denali taking you through tundra, which fades into a beautiful spruce forest. It ends at the huge glacier runoff where you can see Denali on a clear day. We went in the beginning of July 2018 and the Mosquitos were crazy bad. We sprayed several times with mosquito spray which kept them at bay. We never got bit but they were thick in some spots. It was so worth it because the views are amazing. I would do this trail again and again.

Easy hike. Great way to see the wildlife without venturing too far into the park. Moose, birds, and beaver.

Nice if you go off trail a bit, this is a very busy trail!

Easy trail. We saw beavers and mooses. The lake is beautiful!

Three stars since it's still in Denali, but it's not the most exciting trail. Up the ante by going off the trail at the north end and hopefully seeing some wildlife that people on the trail can't see.

Well-kept trail. From the Wonder Lake stop you'll need to backtrack on the road 1/3 mile or so to get to the trailhead. In June the mosquitoes were HEAVY around Wonder Lake and at the river itself. Along the trail it wasn't AS bad, but still pretty rough. Don't laugh at the people with the mosquito nets on their heads, cuz you'll start wishing you had bought one for yourself. Amazing views of Denali if you get lucky with the clouds!

Easy hike with great views. Will likely see beavers and moose even though it’s a busy trail usually.

Super easy hike, beautiful scenery, good for kids or those with bad knees. There’s usually a fair amount of traffic, but some peaceful spots to sit and reflect just off trail.

Continued past the “maintained” trail to a waterfall where we saw Dall Sheep on the other side of the river (high up). Also saw ground squirrels, snowshoe hares and caribou.

Very easy, level terrain. Got to see some Caribou close up but otherwise not too interesting.

It's a beautiful trail and such a short loop, but don't go in the spring without proper hiking shoes, the ice is still there (wow i'm such a lower 48er) and you can end up nearly falling in the river multiple times.

Great little year round hike. Did it in Jan, -20s temps. The lake is frozen in the winter and you can walk on parts of it. Most stunning is the opening along the Nenana River—bright water against the snow covered banks and mountain views.

Beautiful hike!! SO worth the drive:)

Great for the entire family! Easy and absolutely stunning.

The trail crossed several different types of landscapes and it was a fun trail to hike. The end of the trail is a river bank and it gives a unblocked view of Denali. Unfortunately it was cloudy when we got there. Saw footprints of bears, old though.

Gentle walk around the Eielson Visitor Center area and a good way to stretch your legs after the long bus trip. Lots of alpine flowers. On a clear day there are wonderful views of Denali.

It's an easy hike. Fun for kids. Lots of beaver dams and squirrels along the trail. Lake is unbelievably clear. Suggest doing it if you have the time on your trip to Alaska!

Very easy. Enjoyed this little day hike. So pretty too!

Extremely easy loop, not much to it. The lake is gorgeous and the occasional beaver may peek it's way out from its dam.

I recommend combining this hike with a few of the others in the area; like the roadside or maybe even MT Healy.

A cute and leisurely walk. Something to do while you're at Savage River.

Mountain Vista Trail is the site of an old campground from back in the 1930's. The surrounding area is mostly flat, with mountain views in the distance. This is not a hiking destination, but is a nice walk through the valley of Denali Park. It is worth doing, if you happen to be stopping to use the restrooms at the trailhead. I would not make it your main plan for the day.

Great little trail if you are short on time like us. Saw 5 beavers and heard a bull moose call.
