Hello twins. ;)

Flat and easy walking. Good opportunities for wildlife viewing and birding. Saw around 200 sandhill cranes in late August.

Great for toddler hikers. Lots of birds and flocks of geese late summer as fall approaches.

Nice trail surface for walking or trail running. Wet spots likely in rainy weather. Groomed for Nordic freestyle and classic skiing during the season. Options for longer loops on UAF trails, though some can be swampy!

Nice easy trail. We did 3.3 Miles. Mild weather. Mosquitos just started to come out about 2 pm

Love this trail on foot, bike, and skis!

This trail, besides its closest access point being the University ski hut, is part of the trail system accessible from Ballaine Lake and Sheep Creek Rd.

I run these trails all summer. There's a loop that's about 5 miles and another route that'll get you about 6 miles when starting from Ballaine Lake. Other access points to these trails are at Sheep Creek Road and the University ski hut. From Sheep Creek there's an additional trail along the road that goes a good ways. I've always turned back before zI've gotten to the end of that trail so I don't know how far it goes, but it would be an out and back.

In the winter, there are two trails (one for walking/snowshoeing and one groomed for skiing) that intertwine throughout. Not dog-friendly in the winter.

In the winter, this trail has paths for walkers/snowshoers that are dog-friendly as well as separate groomed ski trails. Awesome spot!

Nice and flat. Lots of different well groomed trails in the winter. Ideal place for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, or just a leisurely stroll. Can be crowded at times. Kid friendly, you could do most of the trails with an odd road stroller or even pulling a little sled.

Great for all levels and abilities. Beautiful scenery, well groomed and quiet.

Nice easy, flat, short scenic trail. Beautiful views of the Tiaga forest, but bring your mosquito repellant. This area rather wet so mosquitos are everywhere.

This is a super easy trail with some slight hills. Most of the trail is on a gravel road and is easy on the joints. In the spring, there is a lot of ground water beneath the gravel so it feels like you’re running on a waterbed. You will pass Smith Lake which has some spectacular views as well as the “T” field (experimental tree field). Be on the look out for the Satellite position marker in the middle of the field. It’s quite a site to see.

One last thing, be sure to bring your mosquito repellant. The mosquitos can be quite annoying if you don’t.

I run these trails all summer, and this is a nice trail for a short run. The trails are well maintained and have a wood-chip base. The sections of this trail that are close to the lake are rather wet, and you will get your feet wet if you’re not paying attention.

Fun trail. Relatively flat. Many phasants, squirrels and ptarmagens. It goes by the university grounds and even behind some private houses. You will end up passing two lakes, so grab a fishing pole of you're interested.

Part of the creamer's field trail system. Easy trail, stroller, kid, and dog friendly.

Only did the 1k loop but it was wide and stroller friendly.

This trail is great for easy walking and seeing beautiful forest scenery and waterfowl. The trails are flat, not strenuous at all, many handicap accessible. Just don't expect to do any "hiking," and you will not be disappointed!

Very pretty in the summer. There are some woods in the back of the trail that lead off to some other very pretty trails. Wander lake is back there, it is a man-made lake that has quite a few ducks and other water birds. This is a very easy, wide , marked trail.

The boreal forest loop is a beautiful forest walk through a dense birch forest. We were here the end of July when it was dry. I imagine it could be full of water fowl in the spring.

Great off trails

Easy walk. Enjoyable. Spring it can be very wet so plan accordingly before and during break up. Plenty of geese and a few swans to see. A good easy quick and close walk to just get outside for a little bit.

An easy hike, more for flora and fauna than anything else, since the ups and downs are almost non-existent.

This is a nice trail, easy to walk. I live right down the streat and it's nice to go out there and walk during the summer. There is a migratory bird sanctuary there as well so there is penty to see. One plus about this trail is that there are several off chutes that are all labeled and have the distances on the label. This is very benificial for trail running.
