Closed due to brown bear attacks 7/12/18

Don’t do this hike right now, there was a fatal bear attack weeks ago and Fish and Game was unable to find the bear responsible in this area. They recently reopened the area, but with an increase in bear sightings in the area they closed it and placed traps. Please be safe! (ADN article below for more information)

Dog and kid friendly. One of the most beautiful platform decks that I’ve ever been too. My 3-year old daughter and I can’t stop returning. Check out the hollow tree along the route as it also makes for a great picture. We did see a black bear along the trail but it didn’t mind our presence.

Short walk. Very beautiful view! My friend and I found a less traveled trail that took us down to the falls. Fun & great for some pictures.

Never saw a waterfall & BRING BUG SPRAY!!!! Nice trail to just stroll down and dip your feet in the river

Really enjoyed this hike.

Nice easy quick hike! Worth the views.

Great first hike with my dog. Views aren't the best but still a relaxing hike. The trail leads off into a few other trails to explore next time. We only went as far as the bridge over the creek this time around.

This is actually the River Woods Trail.

Took the trail back to Symphony and Eagle lakes, it was absolutely beautiful. Well worth the trek!

It’s more like a large creek. Great trial though

The trail for the most part was well labeled until we had to cross a rather large river which I wasn’t expecting but none the-less it was still a really nice and easy hike with no large hills.

This was a quick easy walk to check out the falls.

This was a very beautiful trail. Scenic and easy. There was a yellow bear alert up when we were there. Be safe and alert at all times.

It’s a great hiking trail. A lot of uphill but it’s not too bad even for a sedentary out-of-shape person like me. I didn’t do the entire trail though, stopped at the bridge with a nice view of the river and the valley. We saw a moose along the trail.

Easy, short walk to South fork Falls on the South fork River ( not Barbara falls) Barbara falls drive is named after the developers ex-wife decades ago. The dirt road from the gate and bridge go to various homesteader places, so the roads and trails are not maintained. To get to South Fork Falls, follow Waterfall to the stop sign turn right on River park dr. until you get to the Y and go left on Ken Logan Cir. you will have to park a 100 ft. or so from the gate because there is a fire lane on both sides. You don't want to drive down Barbara Falls Dr. because it winds and turns and there are several dead end streets, the other way is more of a straight shot and less confusing. There are lots of black and brown bears in the area, be prepared and make noise and also plenty of cow moose with calves in the spring and early summer so be very alert. Have fun!!

The. trail is in very good condition but a few muddy areas.

Very easy, both the main trail to the overlook and the stream trail to the base.

Started at Alyeska side. Still too early in the season...had to turn around at the pass due to all the snow. Perhaps with snow shoes, but it was too soft to support my pack and weight and I kept falling through. Snow patches leading up to the pass were compact and walkable, but made the trail difficult to find at times.

It’s sooooo beautiful! The hike is very easy to do and short. I finished the whole trail both upper and lower portions within an hour ish with many stops for photo ops.

Excellent, easy hike that is dog and kid friendly. There is a slightly harder trail to actually walk down to the falls and is worth the extra effort. Great trail!

Finished this hike this morning. Trail was dry most of the way but the wet/muddy areas were passable. Lakes are free of ice though there are some patches of snow.

Make sure to go right when you come to the fork in the trail. Very nice hike!

So worth the climb. We made it to “Nipple point” and ran out of time, but will definitely be back to this trail again to go all the way. Views the whole way.

Started around 11am this morning. trail was nice and dry most of the way with very few patches of snow here and there. Both lakes were still partially frozen but still well worth the hike in

Super easy with a nice view of the falls. My pup loved it too.

Easy walk. Parking is a little sketchy. We saw a moose and her baby driving through the community on the way in. We saw one other family on the trail, otherwise had it to ourselves.

Easy hike as far as elevation goes. Beautiful. We saw moose, ptarmigan and sheep. A little busy for my liking, but it was on Memorial Day. We were geocaching, so we put in 12.5 miles, per the Garmin.

Easy hike with a great view at the end! Right before the bridge, there is a narrower trail to the right leading to the bottom of the falls. Highly recommend taking that too!

Nice easy trip to Symphony and Eagle Lakes. Several good camping spots along shore of Symphony Lake. Trail still a little muddy. Both lakes frozen on 5/27. Many ptarmigan and terns near the lakes.
Very popular day hike. Distance is wrong on trail description. It’s 6.3 miles to the lakes.
