A little sloppy in some spots and slick in others. Poles and traction helped. Went down the back side as we were concerned about slipping going back down the front side. Snow is deep on the backside but manageable. Overall a good hike.

avoid the steep side when it's raining, mud city. lots of slipping

Gets a bit steep at the end which can be difficult without good traction as there is still deep snow in some areas. Take the back side down the mountain (winds down towards the left side) if you’re worried about sliding down the front!

The steep trail still has areas on it this time of year where you will have to hike through snow and wet mud. Hiking poles are extremely helpful.

Nice, short trail. Great for children! Still a little muddy but nothing terrible

Don’t be fooled by the short distance. It’s as long as you make it with plenty of additional trails to branch off on. Easy on the difficulty but not on the views.

Hiked this trail today, started off at 0930 with one other vehicle in the parking lot. It was a rather easy hike however, I only made it out about 3.5 to 4 miles. 95% of the trail is soft slushy snow. The views were amazing the entire way. I can't wait to go back in the next few weeks/months once it thaws out a bit more. Most of the incline is right at the beginning of the trail for maybe .3 miles. After that it was pretty flat with small hills.

nice, short trail. very little mud.

Loved it super easy and fun for kids!!!!

this trail is heavily used; two sides: hard/ steep or a moderate incline.
muddy in early spring!
bring a light jacket for the windy condition at the top.

It’s at the upper end, if you call this moderate. Steep climb, gorgeous views. Only made it to the first false peak this time. Lots of snow and mud still present. Can’t wait to come back in the summer.

It was very nice and very easy! First hike that my 4 year old had to walk and he did it with ease!

Took the backside trail up to the top, that side is in much better condition right now. Took the frontside trail still has snow mixed with lots of mud, definitely need yaktraks/crampons. As luck would have it, there’s a stray pair on the top somewhere, lost mine on the way down! Poles were also helpful.

super easy nature walk. bring ice cleats, lots of icy patches. dog and kid friendly

Great, quick, family friendly hike. Little out of the way to reach but worth it. Trail was maintained and easy to hike even in tennis shoes this time.

amazing trail, yesterday climbed, on winter has good snow , reach to the 3 peak ,i needed use crampons, the snow is strong and very uphill

Lots of fun and beautiful scenery! Cleats necessary this time of the year.

Did the full hike this time in the snow and dark. Great view from the top but quite a climb to get there.

Fairly steep definitely once you get a little past the tree line and even before. when I went in October it was pretty muddy, slipped a few times but it was worth it once I got to the top, great view of Eagle River and the mountains across the valley were gorgeous.

Evening hike and only made it about a mile before turning around. Looking forward to trying again.

Breathtaking views. Couldn't have enjoyed this hike more.

Awesome hike! One of my favorites in AK

We were visiting from Hawaii and did this hike on a clear day and the views were absolutely beautiful!

I took the hard way up on the right. Kind of hard to find the trail, so I went straight up most of it - rather difficult. Coming down the other way through the valley was much easier! Awesome views made it totally worth it! If you go left through the red gate from the trailhead, it would be a somewhat easy hike.

After hiking through Alaska for 8 years, this is my favorite!

LOVE! Amazing views of eagle river. Very fun hike. Not as popular of a trail, make sure to bring bear spray and be with someone.

Always love trail. Definitely one of my favorites. Really good for solo hiking. There are usually a lot of people.

Very nice evening hike. The trailhead begins at Baldy and continues along the ridge line. If you go to the top of the peak it is 6.5 miles round trip and took me about 2.5 hours total. Very pretty views and a beautiful sunset behind the Talkeetna mtns. Little Tupperware with a notebook to sign at the top. Beautiful September evening with a wind chill at the top, so if hiking in fall bring gloves. Good for trail running back to the bottom.

just finished this beautiful hike. me and my husband did it in about 2 hours with turn offs to the river a few times.

This is a fantastic trail. Though the name is wrong. The trail in this GPS track goes to Tucker mountain (the mountain with the flag) Mt. Magnificent is the next peak along the ridge, another mile or so. Mt. Significant is well, a significant distance further, many miles past Mt. Magnificent along the ridge.Title edit submitted suggesting changing the name to Tucker Mountain.
