The perfect challenge! Trekking poles made it easier both going up and coming down. It was very windy at the top, so consider this when deciding to hike. Enough people that I didn’t feel too wary of bears. I’ll do this one again for certain.

Saw a black bear about 100 yards from the entrance on my way out today. Saw it twice...or it might have been two different bears. Not especially curious but not especially frightened of me. Walk itself is muddy and buggy but easy and beautiful. Couldn’t get to the falls because of private property. But a good trail.

Just did this. It wasn’t the sunniest day but it’s a great hike that you can continue past to go higher. Definitely will do it again!!! The views were so nice!

Started at Alyeska side. Still too early in the season...had to turn around at the pass due to all the snow. Perhaps with snow shoes, but it was too soft to support my pack and weight and I kept falling through. Snow patches leading up to the pass were compact and walkable, but made the trail difficult to find at times.

Great hike. The right fork is a bit more steep but I enjoyed going up that way and taking the left fork down by the abandoned house and pond. Lots of dogs and people on the trail.

Would definitely do this hike again and give ourselves more time to explore up top.

Finished this hike this morning. Trail was dry most of the way but the wet/muddy areas were passable. Lakes are free of ice though there are some patches of snow.

on Tucker Mountain

Great views!

Went with my 4 year old and 11 month old and it was great! There were some spots that were not as nice but overall it was a lot of fun and that view up top was just beautiful!

Was a cool walk

Started around 11am this morning. trail was nice and dry most of the way with very few patches of snow here and there. Both lakes were still partially frozen but still well worth the hike in

The loose rocks on the west face are a little scary but a great and close by hike!

This is a must do hike that has been on my list for the last 2 years! We picked a great day it was beautiful and lots of people were out on the trail. The trail was mostly dry, only encountered one muddy area. Still some snow patches but none on the actual trail, I could see this trail becoming very slick after rain!

Easy hike as far as elevation goes. Beautiful. We saw moose, ptarmigan and sheep. A little busy for my liking, but it was on Memorial Day. We were geocaching, so we put in 12.5 miles, per the Garmin.

One of my favorite hikes in Eagle River. There was a sign about a curious black bear in the area so keep that in mind. Pretty steady climb the whole way. There are a few false peaks but eventually you will see an American flag in the distance. The flag sits on Tucker. It was definitely worth going the whole distance. Very little snow up there at this point and wasn’t terribly muddy. Spikes and hiking poles would have helped in places but are not at all mandatory. It was spitting snow at the top so be prepared for changing weather.

Nice easy trip to Symphony and Eagle Lakes. Several good camping spots along shore of Symphony Lake. Trail still a little muddy. Both lakes frozen on 5/27. Many ptarmigan and terns near the lakes.
Very popular day hike. Distance is wrong on trail description. It’s 6.3 miles to the lakes.

A little sloppy in some spots and slick in others. Poles and traction helped. Went down the back side as we were concerned about slipping going back down the front side. Snow is deep on the backside but manageable. Overall a good hike.

avoid the steep side when it's raining, mud city. lots of slipping

Gets a bit steep at the end which can be difficult without good traction as there is still deep snow in some areas. Take the back side down the mountain (winds down towards the left side) if you’re worried about sliding down the front!

Good trail. Muddy with a bit of snow. Need to cross water towards the end, but nothing major. Highlight was coming within 30 feet of a moose on the way back, who, fortunately, didn’t seem to mind our music.

The steep trail still has areas on it this time of year where you will have to hike through snow and wet mud. Hiking poles are extremely helpful.

Nice, short trail. Great for children! Still a little muddy but nothing terrible

1st trek of 2018. Nice trail, still a bit muddy and icy in places as expected.

Hiked this trail today, started off at 0930 with one other vehicle in the parking lot. It was a rather easy hike however, I only made it out about 3.5 to 4 miles. 95% of the trail is soft slushy snow. The views were amazing the entire way. I can't wait to go back in the next few weeks/months once it thaws out a bit more. Most of the incline is right at the beginning of the trail for maybe .3 miles. After that it was pretty flat with small hills.

nice, short trail. very little mud.

this trail is heavily used; two sides: hard/ steep or a moderate incline.
muddy in early spring!
bring a light jacket for the windy condition at the top.

It’s at the upper end, if you call this moderate. Steep climb, gorgeous views. Only made it to the first false peak this time. Lots of snow and mud still present. Can’t wait to come back in the summer.

Took the backside trail up to the top, that side is in much better condition right now. Took the frontside trail still has snow mixed with lots of mud, definitely need yaktraks/crampons. As luck would have it, there’s a stray pair on the top somewhere, lost mine on the way down! Poles were also helpful.

amazing trail, yesterday climbed, on winter has good snow , reach to the 3 peak ,i needed use crampons, the snow is strong and very uphill

Lots of fun and beautiful scenery! Cleats necessary this time of the year.
