Long but beautiful trail. Wonderful views at the top of every incline that make you forget about your legs hurting. We got lucky and did it on a clear day and saw a rainbow at the top of the mountain. The lakes are at the beginning of the trail but the second half of the trail offers scenic landscape views and up close encounter with the river. Two cool footbridges to cross at the very end too. Easy to catch a shuttle at the back end so you don’t have to repeat the trail going both ways. We finished in 4.5 hours including all of the individual lake trails. Totally worth it!

Was with my 77 y.o. mother and she was able to walk this trail without a problem. We just walked part of it from the visitor center back to Riley Creek Campground. One spot we went down was a little steep/rocky where she might have had a little difficulty had we been going uphill, but would have been able to make it.

Nice and easy. The wildflowers and birch give a nice accent.

We hiked this trail on June 10, 2018. It was a misty day but the trail is well-maintained and great.

We parked at the Denali village and hiked to the Dinali visitor center. It was just over 10 miles from parking lot to parking lot. There are shuttle buses from the Dinali visitor center which run every ~ hour that will take you back to the Denali village

Lots of moose skat & some wolf. Scenery at the summit area was incredible for us and on a clear day, not sure how you would take it all in.

This place is special in many ways

Awesome hike, lots of beavers at lake 1.

Very long, but rather simple hike. The trail is easy to follow with many clearings which open up to the vast mountains surrounding you.
I recommend starting from the lake end (village end) Its more scenic this way and the last several miles will be toward the decline which will feel good after walking the 7 miles beforehand.
If your going to do this hike you really should take the paths to the individual lakes, otherwise you won't get as good as a view.

One thing, I expected the lakes to be larger, maybe it's just me but I can't help but compare the three lakes to three ponds. All in all, it's was still a very scenic hike with views galore.

Not a difficult hike, just a long one. If you're starting from the visitor center, you won't see much until mile 7 or 8. There's an incline, as well, for a few miles but it's gradual and very doable. Not a ton of foot traffic on the trail, so you pretty much have the trail to yourself. If you're doing it one-way, you can grab the free shuttle to go back to the visitor center.

great scenic hike. went after a good rain. everything was so green and wet. Loved it. I agree with the previous comment. Hard only in terms of length.

We used the trail to walk to the park sled dog demonstration. It's an easy trail to walk even with the elevation changes. There are some great views of the valley along the way.

Gets you back to the paved path into the canyon

I'd rate this as hard only because of length, takes a good chunk of time to get to the end, but the trail is well maintained and not too hard. Bring a little cash to get the shuttle back, or be prepared to hitchhike.

Easy way to see some of DNP and the vegetation with out going "in" to the park

Friday, June 23, 2017

The best way to get out to the sled-dog kennels without hopping on a bus. And a few spots for a decent view.

Nice forest walk. Better trails should be explored first. Skippable.

Taiga trail is not really a hiking destination trail. It is an access trail that links other trails.

hiked from visitor's center to Denali lodge on a clear day. Breathtaking views. 9.5 miles not too difficult with nice switchbacks. Very well maintained.

If you're looking for a trail that's less traveled at Denali take this one. It has great views as it rises in elevation. It's a good workout because the first part of the trail is all uphill if you start from the visitors center.

Excellent moderate hike. Start on the south side if only going one way.

Great, well cared for trail with interesting bridges connecting to other trails.

We started by the park headquarters / sled dog area and hiked down toward the visitors center (and then up another trail). This is a decent hike... we used it more to get from point A to point B and then back again. It was fairly busy in the early afternoon and then more quiet in the evening on our way back. There is one area with a bench and great view of the surrounding area. We did see moose droppings a couple of times along the hike, but we didn't actually run into any large animals.

I loved this hike! We parked at the Visitor Center at Denali National Park and took the *free* Denali Park Village Shuttle (which runs every hour at the 30 minute mark) to the trail head off of Route 3. The trail takes you to three lakes and then up a bit before you bringing you back downhill to walk along the river. A nice trek across a small suspension bridge offers some bonus adventure points. The fastest 9.5 miles I've ever hiked as the scenery changes kept the walk interesting. A word of caution though: bring some bug spray.
