Fun little hike. Very steep at some parts, but we didn't follow the trail.

Beautiful scenery. If you’re bringing dogs, make sure their little paws can handle the hike. We had four dogs with our group, and out of the four, two dogs started limping because the pads their paws were torn and peeling off. We had to carry our dog on the way down. It is sketchy at parts; it’s easy to slip or miss your footing. Half of the hike you are just short of scaling up the mountain. But overall, a super rewarding hike. Oddly enough, my Apple Watch recorded a total of 10 miles hiked.

Nice hike, literally just went straight up. There was a trail or two to follow at the beginning but after the first ledge it was a bit of a scramble to the to, trying to find the best washout to take. Views from the top were great and well worth it.

This is a fun and steep trail. Both portions of the “loop” are pretty over grown, if you head to the west it’s a little bit better, and to the east or the ridge line that goes straight up is slick and over grown. Once you get past the tree line it’s steep and not really any trail to speak of for the traversing portion.

Besides the historical relevance, the trail was not fun. The worst bugs I’ve ever experienced (went the last week in July). The views, of a muggy swamp, were not worth the climb.

Beautiful! Be sure to watch out for all the game trails. They look more maintained than the actual trail.

Easy walk. Kid friendly. Trail kind of disappeared with about .5 mile to go. Was parallel to the road so we just walked the last bit on the park road.

This trail is probably best done as an out and back and skipping the portion with the switch backs, unless of course you brought your hedge clippers with you. Once you get up on the hillside, it’s more open, but until then, I was fighting bushes and branches and got quite scratched up. There was a lot of smoke in the air from the Fairbanks wildfires when I did the hike, but I’m sure the view is spectacular on a clear day. Also, if you’re allergic to bees, there are a lot at the top of the dome for some reason, so watch out!

I recommend the west side trail thru the flowers and arbored trail. Views are fabulous of the Alaska Range.

Beautiful views of the Alaska range on a clear day. Make sure to get your permit USARTRAK before going as it is a controlled area. It’s free to sign up and is good for two years. The trailhead is accessed from dome road just past mile 250 on the west side of the highway.

If you take the lower trail along the lake it takes you to a cabin. From there follow the Quartz Lake trail past the cabin and to the right of the outhouse. When you get to the road the trail parallels the road back to the dock. There are 3 different trail-heads for this loop the main trail-head is on an unmarked dirt road on the left just before you drop down to the boat ramp and campground

Fun hike for the family. Wooded trail that is well marked.
