quick and easy. still a bit of ice at the very end of the creek trail before the waterfall.

Nice and easy, still a bit of snow down at the base of the falls

Great trail with beautiful views! Reasonable incline gets your heart rate going but it’s nothing too challenging. The “moderate” difficulty rating is accurate. The trail is well kept, and we ran into a lot of people (and their lovely dogs!) today. Still a bit of snow near the top, but nothing you would sink in to. Overall, a splendid hike!

Great trail, still lots of snow on the top. Heck of a workout

Quick and easy hike with plenty of people with dogs and even strollers in some cases. a good twenty to thirty minute jaunt.

Great view of lake. Upper 1/4 of trail still covered in snow, but manageable. Good cardio challenge.

Views are beautiful, the falls are more active since it’s getting warmer and thawing out. Very muddy in some areas but not terrible as long as you have good waterproof shoes / boots.

well maintained trail that is wide and gradually inclines from the trees to an amazing view of the lake.

Beautiful. Quick hike. Muddy and icy in spots. Definitely worth taking the detour down the creek trail near the falls viewpoint.

*There is a $5 parking fee. Doesn’t seem highly enforced, however.

Very quick hike year round.

Still a bit slippery for some parts in mid April. The trail down to the creek looked almost impossible due to a patch of ice at the top. Everything else is pretty easy, well marked. If you want solitude this trail probably isn’t best as I still saw a few people during the icy months.

I can be a bit slipery during the winter. with all the snow. make sure you bring some yaktracks or some other kind of traction for waking up and down the hills

Was icy and muddy but still a nice short hike.

Beautiful hike

Wonderful hike

a buddy and I made this climb on 27 Dec 2017. Great hike......I recommend crampons for the decent. The views and silence were amazing.....we also saw some goats near the summit.

Amazing during the winter!! Very slippery once you get down to the base of the waterfall, but it made for a funny hike.

Love it summer and winter both.

Visited Pepper Peak yesterday, Nov 26. Climbed to about 4000 feet and decided to turn back as it was pretty steep and I was out alone. Nonetheless it was a great hike. Used micro spikes until the park bench at 2 miles, then put on my new crampons I bough the day before. Ive never owned a pair, but I wish I had sooner. They were needed for most of the ascent. About halfway up the ridge, the trail becomes exposed in certain areas. Probably won’t be long before it’s completely covered. Will be returning in the spring for sure.

Quick and fun family hike.

One decent view of the mountains, but kind of a boring hike. There isn't a great view of the falls, even from the bottom.

This a great family hike. Trail is well maintained all the way to the falls. The viewing deck is beautiful, has lots of room for people. There is also a trail down to the river and falls also. Little more steeper but still good for families with kids to work off some of that energy.

Such a great hike! Pretty steep most of the way up. The first bench is definitely a good stopping point if you aren't in the greatest shape. Otherwise, go to the second bench. And if you're up for a real challenge and want the best view, continue on past the second bench to the mountain peak. It's less of a trail and more of a dirt/rock path but you'll know the way you're going. Such a fun hike with the BEST view at the end. Definitely worth the workout it gives you!

Just took the kids to the first bench. Decent incline, took it slow and steady.

A great trail for novice hikers and those new to Alaska.

beautiful view of the lake about half way through the trail and even better when you get to the top, beware the trail is pretty steep a lot of the way.
