An uphill trek begins from the North Trailhead. Once on the ridge, you'll be treated with gorgeous scenic views. Don't miss King's Chair, Eagle's Nest and other views from the ridge. Will definitely be back.

Enjoyed the hike. Pretty stout terrain. Definitely moderate. Not for beginners unless you enjoy being super sore.

Peavine Falls is a fun time if there is water. Often times Birmingham can go months without any decent rain which leaves the gorge dry and muggy. Worth the hike when there is water. Always good to bring an ENO or another hammock to hang up near the water and enjoy the sounds of the main waterfall along with the little drops after that. Be aware of snakes, I have been there no less than 20 times and about 7 of those I have seen snakes of decent size.

Braved the cold temp(28) today. We had not been to the falls in over 10 years. Still a great short hike.

Great short hike!! Love this place ♥️

I love the blue trail! I prefer to start off in the PVF parking lot — you still get elevation gains if you hike the entire trail but the ascents are more gradual than if you start from the north trailhead. My favorite loop is blue trail to yellow trail to green trail. I start and end at the south trailhead/Peavine Falls parking lot. Lots of beautiful vistas, around 2000 ft elevation gains, and it’s a 14.4 mile hike if you include a stop at Kong’s Chair. If you enjoy long hikes and have about 6 hours to spare, I highly recommend it!

Nice trail. Leave it for bikers though.

Oak Mountain is a beautiful place! I have ran here multiple times and have always had a beautiful experience! It challenges me in the best way! Hike to King’s Chair for a jaw dropping view!

This was a very confusing situation. We went 5.5 miles and finally had to just walk on the road to get to the car because the park was about to close. It was probably about 7 miles rather than 3.6 as indicated. Beautiful terrain and more like 18 bridges rather than 7 as indicated. :-/. The last half was actually a bike trail that did not follow the path. It was a beautiful day though.

We hiked this morning and the trail is well marked but some how a little confused, we stopped at the. Yellow and white mark.

The downhill climb is worth it if your a waterfall junkie like me. Just get ready for a pretty primitive hike out.

amazing park, well organized. if you planing backcountry camping be at camping office no later than 9am.

I live in New Orleans and for a 5 hour drive it's definitely worth the trip. The hiking trails are great and the mountain biking is amazing . great views and all the streams and the waterfalls make the hiking and biking even nicer . been to Oak Mountain 4 times so far . The camp sights are great .

Great place to walk.

Great trail to prepare yourself for difficult trails throughout the southeast.

Connected to the white trail and then red to return back to my car instead of backtracking!

Bring a camping hammock for your break its perfect!

Beautiful hike! I took my dog to the bottom of the falls so it was rather steep and slippery at times but well worth it! Can't wait to go back!

Trail was great, went the day after a rainstorm and saw a great many natural springs. Good views at the Kings chair and along the rim trail. Gets 4 stars because it's very crowded. Please, practice "leave no trace", a good bit of trash near PVF

Overall good hike. Markings and maps are terrible for all the trails, but the trails themselves are wonderful.

We started at the Pea Vine falls parking lot on the green trail then hit the red trail hiked until we came to the orange trail. Turned right on the blue trail and hiked until we came to the white trail. Very long hike. Make a day of it and take lots of water. Be careful coming up the hill when you are almost back to the parking lot do not sit on the bench just keep going.....trust me.

Not for beginners. We took this one the first time we hiked and it wasn't pretty. Have hiked it a few times since and it does get easier. The first mile is pretty hard with the elevation gain. Overall it is a great day hike with some good views and plenty of rocks to rest on. Please take lots of water and be ready for a challenge if you are new to hiking. We started at the North Trail head took the first left at the blue trail turned right on the orange connector till we intersected with the red bike trail and then followed that back out to the North Trail head. Look out for the cyclists on the red trail.

I hiked this trail and it turned out to be 8 miles. Pretty awesome morning hike. Be prepared for some elevation change. A good challenge for a novice hiker like me.
