Super fun hike with lots of shifts in topography. My nine year old and I started at the church and ended at the parking lot on Cecil Ashburn. The trip was roughly 2.5 miles and took us a little over an hour. My wife dropped us off and picked us up.

Make sure you have excellent lugs on your shoes especially in wet conditions. In fact, I would deem this trail very hazardous when wet. You have to do some rock hopping (slippery when wet) and the ground gets muddy very quickly from rain.

The trail bends around the east side of the mountain and is well covered with trees. So, it's nice to do even in the heat of the summer evenings. We started at 4 PM. We saw lots of wildlife including a deer. My son had a bunch of tinny ticks on him by the end. I must not have used enough spray on him.

Well marked trail with great overlooks of the city. Went to this trail on 4th of July to watch fireworks all over Huntsville. Amazing experience.

The "trail" was mostly concrete, full sun and miserable. There were hardly any places to get to the river, the places that were available was grown up and "snakey".
It's a beautiful place for a picnic, to take the kids, grill out, bike, roller skate or skateboard; a horrible place for a "hike".
I don't normally attract mosquitoes but had to put on my mosquitoe repellent, they were BAD!
I have hiked quite a few hike off AllTrails and this one, by far, was the worst! It's worth checking out for family fun but definitely not a place for hiking.

Nice walk in the woods well marked - there is lots of poison oak so I didn’t get to go on some of the deviated trails due to my allergies

Pack water and a snack. Check your AllTrails to make sure you stay on trial as it can get confusing. Some of the trail is blocked by trees, go over them. If a challenge is what you seek, as a beginner it is what you will find. Leave the little kids at home and use bugs spray as there were ticks.

A great place for family, kids or a nice walk. I don't recommend for hiking, as it's mostly just a stroll through the woods.
Very beautiful place. They have bathrooms, a pavilion with snack machines, grills and different events from time to time.
Again, I don't recommend for hiking but it's worth visiting!

This is a newly completed trail on Land Trust property which takes off from the already established Alum Hollow trail. If you keep listening you'll hear water flowing and you can follow the sound to water flowing out of a small cave, a nice hidden gem.

About a mile in you come to a white sign that says it is the end of Talus trail though you can continue on and follow the markers down to the bottom and to the right. I love the rock formations at the end.

I have seen leashed dogs on the first part of the tail but i don't know if they continued on to the steeper part of the trail.

The steepness in parts of the trail make it a good cardio exercise for me.

Simple, pretty, and to the point.

Overall a good trail with a great climb at the beginning, but toward the end there's a long section that's filled with small rocks that are easy to stumble / twist an ankle on, especially this time of year when they're hidden in the leaves.

Sunset is amazing here. Sunrise is also impressive.

Have hired a couple of times and enjoyed it. Will go again.

Easy trail with a couple of good views. The beginning climb is fairly easy, then a pretty walk along a ridge line before you get to a couple of good view points. Trails are marked and cleared, also a couple of park benches. The first bench is at the top of the beginning climb. Great trail for a fall hike with the kiddos.

Great trails, from nice wide paved trails to unpaved wooded trails which pass by creek and swampy area. Very nice and will go back soon. Had no problems with mosquitoes, and encountered many walkers, bikers, joggers. Our total trip was around 7 miles. Very nice. Super easy trails.

MOSQUITO REPELLENT!!! DO NOT GO HERE WITHOUT IT!!! If you're looking for a place to go hiking, this is not it. If you're in the mood for a walk down a paved path, then this is the spot for you. The scenery was decent and the path is well maintained, but it's definitely not a hiking trail.

Great trail. Probably some of the best views of any trail in Huntsville at the top. Highly recommend for all skill levels.

Beautiful trails if you're out for a short hike.

I would rate this more moderate than easy. Toll gate has a steady incline for at least a mile and it's very rocky. It's a very nice hike.

After breaking away from the other trail heads his hike is STEEP. Not the easy hike I was looking for. After gaining the altitude at the beginning the hike becomes easy but that first part was a steady climb. On the way back I took the West Bluff Trail which gave the best views off the hill.

Starting at the Land Trust Parking lot yields many variations of trails. There are many unmarked trails on the map and all are very easy. This is the most direct route to the north side overlook of Monte Sano State Park if starting at the the Land Trust parking lot.

5 stars for what it is; a nice meandering trail that is not overly technical.

This trail is a good one that I do on a regular basis. There are several good lookouts, especially near the power line. Good trees for eno hammocks and I see people relaxing up there pretty frequently. My dog likes this trail a lot too.

The lake is very nice but the trail is boring and there were lots of noisy, screaming children around. There's a nice covered bridge though. The best thing I got on this trail was instagram photos.

This was a great trail to run. The rocks weren't that bad. Nice, fast route!

Easy 30-45 min walk out. You can turn around and go back before it drops down if that is a concern. Very wooded - not heavily travelled since the Natural Wells trail had a land slide.
