Not well marked but a nice challenge in an urban environment. Short, technical.

Hiked the trail this week. The upper/southern end of the trail on the map (the part that angles around the 1476ft peak) is no longer accessible. A new privacy fence has been installed adjacent to the cellphone tower. This fence eliminates about 3/10 of a mile from the trail.

I started running this course while running distance for UAH. It is a staple for the northeastern Alabama running community, and I continue to run it as a "washed-up-has-been". Different loops comprise a trail system that has something for all levels of trail runners. This is a highly technical system, though, with sections demanding your utmost attention to footing. Wonderful views, quad-shredding hills, easily accessible from several trail heads...truly something for everyone. If you're a beginner stick to the red, white, and blue loops. If you're intermediate to experienced, park on the "backside" coming up Bankhead and try out The Sinks, The Goat Trail, and Warpath Ridge. Have fun!

Steep in the beginning but a very easy path for trail running, well maintained!

A nice hike. As others have mentioned, the Waterline trail is steep. I banged my knee on the way down and hiked the rest of the trail with a bloody knee. Overall trip took me about 2 hours to complete.

Easy hike with nice views.

Very rocky, not scenic at all (or very little), confusing at times---and it's $5 per person to get in the park.

Very well maintained and heavily used trail. One incline at the beginning but smooth after getting to the ridge. We hiked to the tower and then down Varnedoe back to the trailhead. Great trip for us.

Nice easy trail with a slight but steady incline. It was a perfect afternoon trip for me, my wife, 6 year old son and our old dog. Had a ton of rock outcroppings sand a small stream for the dog to grab a drink.
