The main trail is very flat with hard pack dirt and gravel but inclined upwards toward the end. Popular with runners and bikers. We got off the main trail and walked to the suspension bridge then crossed the river and continued along to the falls. There were a few rotten markers and clearly the trail isn't used often. But it's much more challenging and you can walk all the way around the back of the waterfall and continue back down the other side. We started going almost directly up the hill at the "campground" sign and merged back with the original trail. All in all 4.2 miles.

Black Creek trail is a nice walking path but I got easily sidetracked wanting to be closer to the creek and walked down a natural drainage embankment to the water. The lower trail was much more challenging, with rocks to climb over and some side trails to get you off track. Following this trail to the falls was a great hike, but without good markings, signage, or a map available here the only feasible way to exit was to double back the same path, with a steep and rocky incline climb back to the Black Creek trail. I had gone in with a paper map from a sign at the start, but handed it off to another lost gentleman once I had made my way to the lower trail. Would definitely hike this again for the challenges and the falls, but would like to see more markers or a dedicated map for this section.

We took the Falls Trail from behind the park to the falls. Very scenic well traveled but jagged in spots. There were some folks who were hiking in flip-flops which I definitely would not recommend. Due to jagged out crops, I would strongly suggest investing in a good pair of hiking shoes like Merrill’s. We wanted to add some extra distance so we went to the overhanging bridge trail which added 1 mile to the total. Don’t plan on doing this trail pushing a baby carriage. Fee is six dollars to enter the park. Trail starts at the gorge trail head. Beautiful scenery. Can be slippery underneath the falls.

The safest way to descend the gorge/ see the Suspension bridge: park in campgrounds parking, walk to the left of the chapel and pass the RV grounds. Go down the ramp and over the bridge leading to the Black Creek Trails. After crossing the bridge, stay on the gravel road until you hit a mile marker that says 0.6 miles. On the left, there is a sign for Suspension bridge, and the descent is well marked. At the bottom, go right for the bridge. (Left will head back to the falls, and becomes more challenging). This route to the Suspension bridge is easy and would be my recommendation for any families.

Beautiful and lush with greenery and many wildflowers in spring. Easily accessible trails from Noccalula. The non-gorge trails are technically easy for hikers. You can add multiple trails together to make a 4-6 hour hike, but a 1 hour walk is also possible. Paths are well cleared by the city, almost no roots or stones make it great for cyclers. Hikers should head to Dog Hill and Witches Brew for a little climb and scenery change, cyclers take G Force for a straight downhill. The river paths, Jeep Hill and Family Loop get the most traffic. Tips: spring is not too hot yet, but morning is still better. Didn’t see any snakes but was careful. You need to pack out trash. Not too buggy, but I recommend bug spray. Park at the camp grounds. Restrooms closed during covid.

Great trail. Be prepared to get muddy if you climb behind the waterfall. It’s definitely worth it and not as treacherous as you’d think. My two young children had no problem navigating the rocks and we were never precariously close to the water yet we had an amazing view of the backside of the waterfall. Only disturbing part was the amount of litter and graffiti on this trail. I have done a lot of hiking during this quarantine and this was the most littered trail I’ve seen as well as the most graffiti. The trail could also use more signage!

Took an extra 0.4mi round trip to the suspension bridge which was worth it. Trail is rocky (added, not natural) and good for bikes.

Really well marked are of trails for hiking. Lots of mountain bikers on the trails as well as runners and hikers. Family friendly for the most part, some areas of overlooks where watching littles is required but fairly flat overall. My 5 and 8 year olds did two miles with no issues. Great family friendly hiking in the city.

The Black Creek Trail itself is a nice easy walking path near, but above, Black Creek. After about a mile on the trail, we walked down to the trail along the creek and this was a lot more fun for us. We walked this lower trail to the suspension bridge and then to the falls. The falls are awesome, especially if you climb down behind them. Unlike the actual Black Creek Trail, the lower path was much more of a workout and required a lot of rock scrambling.

A beautiful and well defined trail. More of a true hiking trail. It follows the water. Some of the most beautiful scenery you have ever seen. I think it is categorized as moderate. I am 60yrs old and had no issue at all. Loved every minute of it!

Such a beautiful place. This trail is mostly a gravel trail. I would call it a walking trail. A number of landmarks with wonderful scenery. The whole place is just awesome! This trail I would say is for all ages.

Nice trail. More easy than moderate if you stay on the recorded path, which I did not. Mostly well marked with some interesting side trails with neat views, such as the Suspension Bridge. Once you’re off the gravel beginning there are some boggy areas if you go after a rain but these areas were easily maneuvered. I will go again and do some of the other trails in the system.

Walking

This was a fun walk with the dogs. I would consider it more on the easy side. The main walk/trail is gravel path that is very well maintained. There are several side paths that are easy to follow and we'll maintained. There is one path with slightly more difficulty (but still easy enough for kids) that takes you up and under the falls. Throughout the main path there are beautiful views. It was perfect for us to get out and spend time together after a week of rain.
