Wasn’t sure what I was getting into but through the woods through sand dunes you pop out at your own beach.. crystal clear water and to top it all off..dolphins swim just off the shore!!! This was a great hike and gets you away from the crowds of people in gulf shores!!

Very easy trails. 4.7 miles in the heat. All paved or boardwalk

This is one of my favorite afternoon hikes. It doesn’t take long, but there’s plenty of wildlife (birds, skink, gator) to see. I love taking a breather at the beach and enjoying the view of Sand Island Lighthouse in the distance.

The trail itself was beautiful especially by the river but there are A LOT of ticks. I highly recommend you and your dogs are treated for ticks before tackling this hike. The trail head actually begins in the state park just beyond the lodge and cabins.

Hiked this morning. Easy trail till you get to the sand dunes. Ditch the footwear and walk barefoot to the beach unless you want to throw sand everywhere.

Great little trail for kids and pets. There is a good small nature trail right off the cemetery that not many people realize is there. It will take you back to the main pavilion by old 98 or vice versa. Good walking trail.

Beautiful beach on Alabama's last free-flowing river - tons of space, the river is clean and safely fast. Great landing for canoes and awesome place to swim in the Summer.

Scenic trail with great views of the swamp/lakes. Numerous benches. Lots of mosquitoes so wear lots of bug spray. Overgrown in some parts but not too bad.

Fun easy for all ages

Hiked for about an hour below the park resturant, lt was fun but challenging I. will do it again when better prepared.

This is a great little Nature Preserve. The trail shown here is a mild amble along the creek side and not what I consider a hike. Other trails not shown here include the Narrows Ridge trail (3.2mi.), the Thompson Trace trail (1.4mi.) and the Handby Hollow trail (0.9mi.). These three trails intersect at several points throughout so it’s easy to get some extra miles. I started at the entrance gate and hiked the Narrows trail, which is a loop, and then drove a very short distance to the Thompson trail head at the Recreation area. From there I hiked Thompson and connected with Hanby which made a loop back to the Thompson trail head. I got about 5 miles overall and thoroughly enjoyed it. There’s also another 0.3 mi paved trail (Highlands Trail) on the other side of the Preserve. The trails are well maintained with clearly marked intersections so it’s impossible to get confused. Go to the Turkey Creek website for hours of operation and to get a trail map ahead of time.

Lots of trail traffic.

Walked 3.5 miles on this maze of trails today and loved every step. The scenery is beautiful from the tall pines to the beach looking out at the white caps of the gulf. Great for families with kids, great trail for running or simply walking.

this trail is in various states of order. it is quite versatile, with several options for "bouldering" right next to the water, or taking an exit up to the bluff to walk along backroad 5 or along to ccc road (gillam trail is part of this). though maps show just 3 exits, there are actually 6 well marked exits all the way down to the river mouthing into the other fork near backroad 5 for a much longer and more scenic hike. not well frequented, lost the trail a few times but easy to follow the river and bluff. it seems the trails haven't been tracked for a while but there are some online efforts to update the maps and trail markings. blissful solitude, just me and the birds.

We did a ruck here with our crossfit buddies & it was a blast! Heavy backpacks made this trail a little more strenuous. Very pretty easy trail to the beach!

Is this a real trail?? When I turn on the sat layer it starts and ends in the Beach Club parking lot. guard at the gate looked at us like 3 eyed aliens when we tried to get to it...

Great beginner trail. Can be crowded near the falls area due to Summer swimmers. Several of the best trails are not listed here which are more like a true hiking experience.

Excellent

Pretty cool little area. Nice trails along creek and ridge surrounding the creek. Hikers and walkers often bring dogs. Can someone confirm if the first picture is from Turkey Creek? I couldn't find a waterfall of that size or drop and it looks to be from the Sipsey actually...if so, that picture needs to be removed.

this trail was a relaxing walk with a great view.

Great walk in the woods in the middle of the city. Easy trail with some interesting historic spots along the way.

We followed the directions to the end of dolphin island to start the trail...it is a mess! Lots of construction and there is no specific area where to start the trail. We drove back and parked in the public beach parking and started there. It was a great ride from there to the other end!

Really fun easy walk! Great for kids! No dogs. Lots of sand toward the end so wear tall socks or go barefoot.

Dogs are NOT allowed on this trail. We were unable to hike here. Gulf Shores State Park is not far from this location and offers numerous dog friendly trails.

Very nice set of trails. All paved and boardwalks. My wife and I walked with our black lab and enjoyed it. It was very heavy traffic even for February so I imagine once tourist season gets in full swing there will be little solitude. Great park!

Really nice trail especially during a sunset!

update - The Jeff Friend trail loop has been completed renuvated with a new level walking surface. They installed wooden foot bridges with composite decking material that border the water shoreline. just beautiful.
