Hiking

This is a great short trail. About 500 ft of elevation in just over a mile. I started at the base, hiked up, then back down. It rained the previous night so it was pretty slick the whole way, but not washed out. There are ropes along the steepest inclines to aid in the ascent. Though there aren’t ocean views from the trail, it’s still worth the hike. The trailhead at the top was very overgrown, but I noticed another entry a few feet away. Worth it if you can break away from the beautiful beaches while you are here.

Hiking

You would never think this would lead to a beautiful secluded beach, but it does. But it’s not for the faint of heart. It’s short and not steep, but very overgrown. Anyone under 5’ tall will be walking with the vegetation all around. Having said all that, the beach is worth the trip. It’s not as clear and blue as Magens and some others, but there is no one there. Take anything you want to eat or drink and enjoy the serenity!

WalkingGreat!

The only reason it is a “hike” is that you have to park your car outside the Botany Bay Residences. There is a concrete road that goes all the way down to the entrance of Mermaid’s chair. It was worth the walk - only my husband and I were there, so it was serene. We also went around 7:30am when it was still fairly cool by Caribbean standards. You can only enter the road between 7am and sunset/7pm, and you must sign in at the security booth.

HikingGreat!

A world-class beach awaits you at the bottom of the hill. We started at Lind Point, signs said .3m to Honeymoon beach, it’s more like .5m, but not too difficult. Our 4 year old did it herself. Down to the beach and back up to the trailhead.

Very easy trail. Well marked. Somewhat rocky but a nice easy trail. Not a lot of coverage at all. We went on a cloudy day so it was cool but I’m sure it could get really hot on this trail.

Really nice trail from Cruz Bay to Solomon Beach and Honeymoon Bay. It’s very well marked but somewhat rocky in some spots. I’d rate it as “easy” except for those with mobility issues. Definitely take the upper trail to the overlook. The climb is no worse than the walk back up from either beach and the view is well worth it. Solomon is a lovely, little pebbly beach. Honeymoon was a little too “touristy” for us, but we strongly prefer very secluded beaches. It does offer a food stand where you can grab a bite and replenish water.

Hike the trail from Magens Bay to the top and back. It was rocky with steep inclines and steps but short. I wouldnt call it a easy trail if going up and will be hard for someone out of shape or with bad knees. I'm a 60 yrs old fat man but with a lot of AT trail hiking experience and didnt have much problems except getting winded on the way up. Another in our group had troubles coming down due to bad knees. No views as some have said on the reviews until you get to the beach, which is a must visit when in STT. Trail and beach are lots of Fun!!

Walking

Would not call this a trail as you’re walking on a sidewalk for quite some time to get to the beach. It was extremely hot and pretty tough coming back up as it’s mostly uphill. Mermaids Chair was beautiful and but I would rather explore by boat versus walking.

Okay, I am no Olympic athlete but that hill was a beast! Unfortunately, after climbing up the dirt road, the trail to the East was overgrown and we couldn’t hike it. Could anyone else get there recently? Beautiful views and a great workout.

The road to the trail is washed out, but doable in our rented Ford Fiesta. The trail is short, but steady uphill grade.

Worth the hike! Gives a good work out with a beautiful view of the Tektite area. Up and down, bring water and wear sunscreen. Be sure to take Cabritte Spur as the views are amazing. Small gorge to hop over if you wish. Hardly used. We drove on to Little Lameshur for a cool off dip.

The recording is off at the beginning. Not sure if the entrance of the trail changed, but you need to go up the road through the parking lot at the left of the resort gate and then look for the trail entrance on your right. The trail is really nice and of course the tide pools at the end wonderful. We hiked late afternoon and had the tide pools for ourselves at sunset. My boys loved the night hike return by flashlight.

Single trac trail with steady incline/ decline. Stay on trail as there are thorns and cactus EVERYWHERE. Short well built staircase down to the beach. Large beach area with little shade. Moderately traffic. Great snorkeling. Show up early in the morning and have beach to your self.

HikingNo shade

Easy hike to a quiet and secluded beach. There’s no cover on the trail so sport a hat and sunscreen (reef safe if you’re going for a dip in the ocean, please). You can do it in flip flops but there are some rocky part that would be easier with shoes or at least strapped-in sandals. Solomon beach is small and I was alone so it was perfect for solitude. The beach has lots of pebbles and is rockier than Honeymoon beach so I wore water shoes.

I did Upper Lind in the way to Honeymoon Beach and Lower Lind on the way out because I was wiped. I did it in flip flops which was okay but if you do Upper Lind, hiking shoes or tennie runners are recommended. It’s just barely more than what I would consider easy but Lower Lind was a breeze. As other reviewers have noted, there’s no shade so be sure to wear sunscreen (reef safe if you’re planning for a dip in the ocean, please). Great sandy beach and clean, clear water but it’s salty so have some extra water on hand to clean your eyes and face.

This was a great little hike down to Solomon Beach. It is rocky so wear sturdy shoes. Also, although we were hiking through trees, the sun still beat down on us and it got HOT. Bring plenty of water. The reward is the amazing beach and snorkeling at the end. We brought a beach tent and were so glad we did because we lost all shade in the afternoon. The scramble back up may be difficult for some so take your time and enjoy the trail and beach.
