I went off the trail a little as I reached the beach the tide was out so took the advantage of this and walked along the beach to Southern Down the rejoined the coastal path and walked to the lighthouse, would rate this trail as moderate to hard. Hope you'll give it a try but remember to watch the tide as you can get cut off so only go on the beach when the tide is out.

Parked up at Monknash carpark (£3 at the honesty box) and took this trail as part of a longer coastal walk. It is an interesting start down in the valley following Monknash Brook through a small woodland and seeing the ruins of an old cobblestone building that was slowly being reclaimed by nature. Then spectacular views down the coastline from the cliffside trail. Note that this route only takes you up to the carpark at Nash Point. It is another 500m or so up the trail to actually get to the lighthouse itself, but the views are worth it.

lovely easy walk along the cliff edge. the trail stopped at a little cafe but we walked a little further right up to the lighthouse. Parked in Monknash car park where there is a £3 charge in the honesty box.

Being reachable from my front door this is a favourite for all seasons! If you want a ‘blow’ in mid winter this is great breathing in the sea air after a Christmas lunch!

Lovely views of the sea, wide open spaces and some forest trail. There’s toilets and a small cafe at the end and good parking facilities at the start. Keeping the lighthouse in sight towards the end of the walk was a great motivator for keeping going. This was our very first trail using this App and we had a very enjoyable couple of hours on a beautiful sunny day in September. The trail wasn’t very crowded and was fairly easy but challenging enough to make us feel it was worthwhile. It has definitely spurred us on to do more trails!
