Walk along the footpath until you get to Henrhyd Falls, which is the tallest waterfall in Wales at an impressive 27 meters tall. Head back to the trail junction and then, if you are still in the mood for a walk, walk along the Nant Llech, keeping the river on your left hand side. You will eventually go through another gate that signals that you are leaving the National Trusts property. You will come to another, smaller bridge and then begin heading downhill into the valley. Continue walking until you come to Melin Llech, an abandoned watermill that is not open to the public for visiting- please stay on the trail. From this watermill keep walking uphill until you join the footpath on your left. You will go through a kissing gate, cross a road, and then follow the River Tawe to the end of the walk. Return the way you came.

HikingGreat!

This trail can be made into a circular trail. Carry on following the Nant Llech river, keeping it on your left. There are NT sign posts to follow. Do not go over the old bridge- it’s an old path that leads to the back of the monkey sanctuary! Follow down towards Abercrave and then the footpath takes you through a farm back onto Cefn Byrle road- the opposite end of Coelbren village to where you started. Follow the road up and through the village to get back to the car park. Please pick litter up on the way as this is the only thing that spoils this trail. Takes about 2 1/2 hours for full circular trail.

Lovely trail with an incredible waterfall. It was pouring with rain but nice and sheltered on the trail so didn’t feel it. Pretty muddy and slippery though so good boots are a must!
