Park at Keeper’s Pond, look around you at the Black Mountains and then head left around the pond to begin your hike. Go over the bridge and right onto the trail. Hike downhill to the tramroad and make a right. Once you pass the tunnel, keep walking. You should be on the lower path and there should be a fence on your left. Eventually you will come to a gate. Turn right onto the public bridleway. You will come to Punchbowl, a large cwm and manmade lake. Walk left along the shore again staying on the lower path with the fenceline on your left. Climg gently out of the Punchbowl and at the cattle grid, turn right along the road. Follow the road until making a right turn at the Carn y Gorfydd. Continue on the path towards the summit of the Blorenge. Make a left at a small brick building and continue to the summit as the path turns from rocky to marshy. Make a right at a path junction to the Foxhunter car park and head back to where you started.
Unfortunately my battery went dead so I was unable to record the whole walk but I followed the suggested route and i thoroughly enjoyed it. Had to refer to the map a lot as there are options and some times the obvious ones aren't the ones to take. Views were limited due to weather so will be returning on a clearer day.
walk. Beautiful views throughout will certainly complete again.
A great route! Walked down streams, waded through ferns, squelched in mud - lots of variety. On the easier end of the 'moderate' rating. There were a couple of short but steep sections but was otherwise pretty gently decline and incline. Took me around 3.5 hours, which included a short snack break about half way round. Set off at 9am to a half full car park and when I returned it was absolutely rammed.
