The Miners’ Track to Llyn Glaslyn was built during the last century to serve the Britannia Copper Mines. Abandoned in 1917. The track to the lake is still almost a road, and though eroded in some places, nevertheless provides an exciting mountain walk for people with little experience of mountains. The path beyond Llyn Glaslyn to the summit is considerably steeper and can be a serious undertaking.

Really enjoyed my first mountain trail along the miners track! If you’re a beginner do expect some scrambles on the way up that are a little more than moderate in wet conditions (in my opinion). Great feeling at the top.. I followed the train track back down as oppose to the scramble.. pack some walking sticks for the hips!!

I did this route once for sunset and a few weeks later for sun rise, the views of the lakes early hours in the morning are phenomenal just as the sun is starting to rise. It was just as busy at 4am in the morning as it was at 7pm at night, I find the ascent a lot easier than the long winded Llanberis ( the easier route ) but if the weather is bad during the slight scramble it can have its typical dangers.

Very easy path before the climbing, with very nice views on the lakes and mountains. However, the path is so easy that it is really a sunday-walk, totally crowded. Easy path ends in a more difficult session with a bit of rock climbing to the summit. Be prepared to be stopped by non-prepared people. Still beautiful but mount Snowdon is too touristic for me. We did it in november so we expected a bit less people. I wouldn’t recommend to do it in summertime. Pro-tip: Parking at the start of this walk is quite a nightmare, small and expensive parking (£10 for the day).

We researched many reviews before deciding on taking this one to the summit as we had dogs with us. I would NOT recommend taking dogs up this route as although the initial miners trial from Pen Y Pass is very flat and easy the climb up to the Pyg Track is treacherous, nearly vertical at times, very rocky and difficult on your own let alone with a dog, it actually gets a little easier again on the Pyg Track up to where it then meets the final easy Llanberis pass route to the top . We decided to come back down the Llanberis route which although long is a much easier route for the dogs and certainly young walkers. If on my own I would do the Miners route again but it is certainly not a moderate route in my view.

Did this trail summer 2018 but not this exact trail. Because of parking at Pen y pass, parked at Watkins and took the bus to Pen y pass to hike Miners up to the summit, Rhyd ddu part way down and connect to Watkins for a final pass by the waterfall. This allowed us to catch the lakes on miners and the falls on watkins with new views the entire way. A fairly difficult hike at spots, but well worth the rewards. Really thankful for that beer at the summit.

i would recommend this trail if you have good physical condition with strong knees as on its half way, lots of climbing off trail to meet up pyg trail people. I rated as this track with the most stunning view while going up to Summit. i picked up Llanberries going down, the view was less exciting than Miners track. Strongly recommend to going up by this track.

For the people who don’t want to or can’t hike up to the top, a moderately challenging climb up to the second lake of Glaslyn will give you beautiful views after which you could choose to return.

We did Miners Pass both up and down as we completed in July when the weather was hot and some members of our party wanted to swim in the lakes on the way back down! We are CrossFitters so all of good fitness levels and found the path relatively straight forward, bit of a scramble where the Miners and PYG track meet but not too bad if you take your time. This was my 1st time hiking a mountain and felt confident doing it, plenty of people doing it so no danger of getting lost!

We did this in a large group of mixed abilities and it was great fun. We took the Llanderis path and caught some lovely views in between the clouds! Towards the summit it did get tough due to the weather and the incline but worth it!
