This is one of the most popular ways to reach the top of Cadair Idris. The top of Cadair Idris offers incredible views of South Snowdonia. The peak is actually called Penygadair, whereas the mountain is called Cadair Idris. If you'd like to approach from the other side, you can use the Minffordd Path. The route shown here has the walker starting at the Ty Nant car park. There is a small fee to park. There is an overflow parking nearby in a field when the car park is full. There is a small bit of scrambling on this route so be prepared!

Thought the Clag and Ice would clear up a bit but wasn’t to be, as I was solo it was far to windy, icy and visibility minimal....... I will do it again.

I did this trial with my two children aged 9 and 13 and we found the walk fairly easy and enjoyable. Most of the paths are well laid. Bit of a scramble at the top to the Trig point. Parking is £3 in the national parks carpark. We did the walk in a easy three hours.
