A circular woodland walk in Nercwys Forest in Flintshire. The walk follows woodland tracks and you will have the opportunity to enjoy two viewpoints with superb views across the surrounding area. The woodland tracks may be muddy after wet weather. There are a few ascents and descents and a couple of gates plus you will need to cross 10 stiles including a couple of ladder stiles. You can avoid the stiles and shorten the walk by excluding the spur section to Bryn Alan. Approximate time 2.5 to 3 hours.

A great trail. Well signposted and not too long when walking with a young dog. We went on a weekday as weren’t too sure how busy it gets but it was quiet and ideal as we are currently doing off lead training. Beautiful views at some points on the trail. Good mixture of uphill and downhill, yet not too challenging.

Didn’t do the forest as I started from the main road A494 and walked up to the cliffs over looking the hills, nice enough walk with nice views, didn’t see the point of doing the Forrest as it was a lot further out the way and needs to be started around the Forrest area.

Dog friendly trail, easy to follow. Very quiet, looks like some horses go on the same trail so be careful if you have a dog that doesn’t get along with them.

really quite walk, some times you have the whole place to your self... well worth a try

Great for walking or mountain bike, peaceful, not many people around, lovely surroundings and easy to get to

Absolutely loved this walk. The forest is really atmospheric and the quiet allows you to really hear all the birds. Following the map was very easy. I didn't manage all the extended walk because it was just me and my dog. I got pooped lifting her over the stiles! Still excellent though. Be aware if you have a dog they will need to be lifted because there is no way through the bars. Not sure how you'd cope with a very heavy dog. If you can manage though I highly recommend this walk.

A lot of sheep on the extended walk. On the forest trail you can often meet horse riders.
