Do it early in the morning to avoid crowds and enjoy wildlife-bisons and elks. Geysers and pools are amazing. Trail is super easy, pleasant walk with your morning coffee cup)

Best geyser basin in the park. Lots of geysers and other geothermal features. Be sure to see Old Faithful and Grand Geyser, and stay nearby to beat the later crowds.

Visited 10/19... was amazing to witness old faithful and the geysers were beautiful. However.... sooooooo many disrespectful people. Witnessed way too many people throw their trash on the ground, and cigarette butts wherever. Obviously this isn’t the parks fault, but seeing this made me super annoyed Anyways, I wouldn’t consider it a “hike” but it was a super easy and relaxed walk!

So amazing! One of the coolest places I've ever been! Easy to walk here and a never ending adventure walking through the geysers that go off at different times of the day.

Incredible. It is not a hike and very crowded (particularly around the old faithful) but seeing the geysers in action was definitely one of the most wonderful things i've seen in my life. Ignore the tourists and enjoy the unique scenery. The old faithful is very nice in action but DO NOT MISS the Grand geyser (activated every 6-7h) it was just jaw dropping....

Besides Old Faithfull, there is a whole host of geysers and hot springs along that trail that are just amazing. If you do no other trail in this park, do this one. We did not do the Observation Point section but we did hike past Morning Glory Pool to Artemisia Geyser and the Cascade Group. It was like being on another planet (or maybe Fraggle Rock)!

Pretty interesting to see all the geysers and hot springs. I’m no scientist but seeing all that was pretty interesting, very very easy walk along deck planks, did this early in the morning with temperatures around 28 degrees, the steam coming from the ground made for some great pictures, worth doing if you are there

Upper Basin was a mixed review.... the geysers and hot springs were quite enjoyable as something you don’t see everyday. However, the dirt trail wasn’t much of anything. The map provided at the visitor center is terrible, as it pertains to the trails. We ran into a Ranger on the trail and asked for assistance in branching off to other trails and he struggled to understand the map. Unfortunately, the route he suggested to the falls has had grizzly bear activity for the last week, so we opted out. Dirt trails would rate 1 1/2 and the boardwalk area around the geysers and hot springs 5 rating for the visual of the strange activity.

I've done the whole loop and just the upper loop. I like crossing the river/bridge on the upper loop, makes for a pretty area. Check expected geyser times, if the ones in the lower loop aren't likely to go off, you can skip the lower loop if you're in a hurry or have young kids like me that tire out.

geysers large and small plus other geothermal wonders dot the trail. did this at sunset after a rainy day... MAGICAL colors and lighting. One of the times I wish the evening wouldn't end. Highlight of the park along with Grand Prismatic Spring

This was a wonderful way to experience the beautiful geothermal features of the park without feeling rushed. So many sights to see. We veered off the loop for a bit but we’re able to see the Punch Bowl Spring which I highly recommend. After heading back on the path we made it to the Morning Glory Pool which was amazing. Old Faithful was great to see, but I enjoyed the colorful pools and springs much more!

Old faithful itself is actually pretty underwhelming. The trails in the back however are cool! There’s a path that climbs up and gets you some elevation to see old faithful from a different level and then brings you back to a smaller geyser that gives off small eruptions (4ft tall) every 5-7 minutes!

The ultimate area for geysers, fumeroles, and other thermal features. This trail can be split into different sections. Mostly boardwalk and pavement.

We observed Old Faithful erupt from behind on this trail with just a few others. The trail itself is pretty easy, and the geothermal features are awesome. Morning Glory at the very end was the coolest one we thought, well worth going to. A solid way to spend a couple of hours in Yellowstone.

Took more photos then I know what to do with. I really enjoyed this trail, and if you look hard enough you can see moose tracks in the bacterial mats. Crowds can be a pain though.

Yellowstone’s star attraction. Relatively flat boardwalk trail with the worlds greatest concentration of phenomenal geysers. Must see in your lifetime.
