10/08/19: This is a great short steep hike to a pretty little lake. Take time to explore around the lake. Amazing views and saw pair of nesting geese hunkered down before snowstorm that is heading in to area.

Steep start but the trail levels out after about half a mile. Great hike for our family with a 5 and 3 year old.

Good Easy Hike

All the elevation gain is at beginning of the hike. Easy Peasy once you get to the beautiful lake. We were there after a rain in early September, had the lake all to ourselves for 90% of the hike. Take this hike. Worth it.

This is a short steep trail to a beautiful lake. The hike around the lake is nice. No luck with fishing or seeing otters!

Easy hike up to lake. On way up had fox walk to about 5 feet away. Up at lake, wife got a picture of a fox with an early morning meal. Saw 2 otters playing in the water until they disappeared. Great views of mountain reflection in lake as well.

Great easy trail that takes you away from the road and gives you great peace of mind with adorable views. We spotted: birds, deer, trout (threw the water) and beautiful wild flowers.

Amazing! Saw so many otters. The hike up to the Lake is steep, but once you get to the lake it becomes flat. You can hike around the lake which is gorgeous!

Enjoyed this Trail thoroughly with my family. A little rocky and uphill at first, but not for too long. Then opened up to the loop around the lake, which was gorgeous. We saw trout spawning in the little stream, various birds in the wooded area on the uphill part, and had no problem with bugs. The people right before us said they saw an otter, but we did not. This was my favorite spot so far!

This is a great family trail. Beautiful views and nice hike around the lake. It’s a little steep to get started but totally worth it. The Park has some workers cleaning the trail. We were there in July. The spawning cutthroat trout were everywhere in the creek that comes into the lake. It was really cool to see. We heard there were Moose recently on the trail but we didn’t see any

this is a great hike to take your kids on. can be a little steep during the first part but very manageable. once you get to the lake make sure you follow the creek that feeds the lake and see if you can find some fish swimming

Short and somewhat steep climb just at the start, then an easy and kid-friendly hike with gorgeous views and not a lot of people.

Great little hike that the whole family can enjoy. We enjoyed being able to get out of the car after coming over the pass and getting in a little hike before going on into Lamar.

It starts uphill which can be a bit strenuous but after that its beautiful, especially when all the wildflowers are bloomed.

The steep incline up to the lake and the altitude definitely got me on this one but the payoff was well worth it. Very pretty lake. We walked to the small bridge and back. It was a little busy considering it was so early in the season but not too bad.

Overall a decent, short trail. Not too crowded and nice views.

Did this hike in early May 2018 and even though there was snow in Yellowstone still, this trail had no snow. It was pretty easy. I've heard in July, there are river otters. Off of this trail is another trail to Buck Lake.

Really nice and relatively easy hike...some uphill climbing but mainly at the start of the trail. Then you’re rewarded with a really nice hike around the lake, with great scenery as a backdrop. Really nice little bridge over a small “waterfall” where the lake feeds a stream...very scenic. If you’re looking for a nice short hike, with more than just flat walking, I’d strongly recommend this hike!

Great hike, with hardly anyone there. Took a trail that shoots off the back en of the lake that lead to another smaller lake. Saw fresh signs fo bear activity and heard very loud and distinct warning growls as we neared the smaller pond.

Beautiful drive through Lamar Valley. Limited Parking. Trails begins on a steep climb. Wildflowers were abundant and views amazing. Once cresting the hill, the lake appears with the reflections of the mountains. We walked clockwise around the lake. We admired the easily visible trout as they swam. At about 3:00 on a circle is the inlet that flows into the lake. A wooden bridge and water flowing was great. Many animal trails that has the potential to be seen. a great hike for all ages

Lovely lake. We hiked around a bit above the lake and caught some great views. Cutthroat trout were spawning in the river above the lake while we were there a few days ago.
