The lake was a beautiful glacier blue color. There was a lot of people when we did this hike 4 days ago, probably because it was super nice weather. We stoped and had a couple of big sky seltzer’s at one of the benches, and enjoyed the beauty. There is so many options to do longer hikes, with forks cut in the trails which was super cool. We tried to attempt Holly Lake hike, but we unfortunately would have been cutting it too close time wise and didn’t want to be stuck in the mountains at dusk. String lake is an extremely easy hike!

Beautiful views at every turn. Not crowded at all today, which was surprising because the weather was fantastic.

We weren’t on the String Lake trail but ended up hiking part of the Jenny Lake trail. Thinking that this app or google maps took us to the wrong starting point.

Start early so it's not so crowded! It was 28 degrees this morning so we waited til about 10:30 to start. Parked in String Lake Lot 3 and turned left at the trail head. We didn't turn right to go over the bridge for the loop, but continued toward Jenny Lake. We arrived at where String Lake dumps in to the south side of Jenny Lake and rather than go back to the bridge, went across the rocks/stream and over to the trail to the north side of Jenny Lake Trail. Walked about 2 or so miles to Hidden Falls, where we ran into every one else that waited for warmer temps! Then up to Inspiration Point for about 40 minutes. Spectacular! Easy and flat at times; moderate and rocky at times, especially up to Inspiration Point. It was about a 7 mile round trip and well worth the trip...

We are middle-aged obese hikers with bad knees. We did the whole loop and for us it was a strenuous hike. The steep elevation change about a third if the way into the hike was almost too much for me. We did the loop in the counter-clockwise direction, which seems to be how most people do the loop. I wonder if it might have been easier going in the clockwise direction, as the elevation change is more gradual. The scenery was stunning and there is a nice variety in vegetation that you travel through. We saw lots of red squirrels, some chipmunks, and what I think were Mountain Chickadees. The first part of the trail (in the counter-clockwise direction) is flat and relatively rock-free until the first bridge. It’s also the most scenic part. You could do that out and back if you want an easy, flat walk.

Outstanding - beautiful vistas of the Tetons and back towards Jackson. We clocked it about 3.99 miles for the whole loop.

Beautiful, easy hike. Lake and mountain look out. Most trail is in the shadow. No too crowded. One of the most beautiful hike in my life.

Easy, scenic route around String Lake and part of the way around Leigh Lake. Lovely views.

Easy hike that takes you pretty high up on the other side of the lake. Very few people did the whole loop, so it was quiet. I did this walk with my partner and 3 month old baby and we were fine. The only wildlife we saw was a snake, but I would bring bear spray just to feel more comfortable- large parts of the trail are quite remote.

The String Lake trail accessed from the first turn-out on the access road that presents signage stating horse trailer parking is a beautiful short trial. The trail from the turn-out parking leads up a steep hill into an area that has a plethora of dead trees across the trail. We abandoned this trail and road to the west along the tree line until we encountered another trail leading directly to String Lake. Horseback riding is only allowed on the east side of the lake and was one of our most enjoyable rides. Take your lunch and eat along the lakeside. We attempted to ride the loop around the west side and encountered stone steps that our horses refused to attempt so we turned around and abandoned that effort.

Great views on this trail. Wear something you can swim in; String Lake is clear and beautiful, as is Leigh Lake. The String Lake trail connects to the Leigh Lake trail.

nice hike with the kids, very well marked, we saw a black bear and two Cubs maybe a half mile in going counterclockwise.

Very nice for a quick trail run; be aware of the horse tours, don’t run up behind them, they go counter clockwise.

Connect up to Jenny Lake trail and Inspiration Point for a nice 7 mile out and back!

A great blend of views and elements on this hike. One section is more moderate because of the elevation gain, otherwise an easy hike. You will want to spray up prior to the forest section.

Beautiful trail with mixed topography. Good idea to have your bug spray handy as the mosquitoes are out in force. Also, while this is heavily trafficked, we did see a grizzly bear at 4:30 in the afternoon. Two of us were running—too quietly! We were a bit humbled, but safe.

Very fun hike with beautiful views throughout. Our little one loved the multiple bridges we got to cross. There is only one short section with some mild elevation gain, otherwise it was an easy but very enjoyable hike. We also enjoyed lunch at the wonderful picnic area just off the trailhead which was an excellent way to end our hike.

Some of the most gorgeous water and mountain backdrop photos I've ever shot. Pretry easy until you climb up the hill after crossing the bridge. Definintely enjoyed this hike. I added this hike while knocking out the Jenny Lake's Trail.

Great hike. Not too difficult. Trails are in great condition. Walk along the lake, cross the river, up a bit to amazing views, down a bit to more amazing views. Cross another bridge and you’re back.
