Serenity Trail is a 3.1 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Newcastle, Wyoming that features a great forest setting and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips and is best used from May until October.
Both loops are great for hiking and trail running, not so much for biking. There is one unavoidable rock step area on both loops and the "4" mile loop has even more rocky steps. Scenery though is pretty great and the inspirational signs plus the Serenity sitting area are a very nice touch! Biggest issue is that there is no "2" mile loop or "4" mile loop as advertised. So do not plan your hike or run on that false information. The two loops are a just shy of 3k and a 5k from the parking lot and back, actual loop portion is even less.
Enjoyable hike, well maintained, great for dogs. Not as busy as some other hikes around. Good elevation changes. Don't park at State Prison, trailhead is on the road immediately (50') north of the entrance to the State Prison and they don't like you to park there. We were kindly shooo'd away to the correct parking spot.
Easy trail to find. Was totally dry. 2 mile and 4 mile loop, all very well marked. I did the 4 mile loop, it was more like 3.5-ish. Lots of ups and down in terrain. I would almost rate it as moderate, for an average person. I hiked alone and had cell service the whole time. Beautiful day so I ran into about 5-6 other groups of people. Great spot though! I would go again.
Nice clean trail that’s easy to navigate. Not many scenic overlooks but a great trail for a workout with good inclines.
