Easy hike that is gradual elevation up to an overlook of the lake. Can easily go on further if you choose onto another trail. Saw a bear in the distance at overlook.

Beautiful hike, quick and easy. Road to trailhead recommends 4WD vehicles but we were able to make do with a mid size sedan.

Nice incline, not too challenging. Overlook point is lovely. Fairly busy for a week day.

Great hike. Moderate incline but nothing terrible. Great views. Definitely lots of bear activity so bring spray

Nice easy hike. We did the 4x4 road to about 3/4 up to trailhead then hiked up to trailhead. Then an easy 390 feet incline up over 1 mile to the overlook. The lake was beautiful and glistening. Very enjoyable.

Hiking

Heavily trafficked, but a minimal effort hike with a good reward of the lake overlook at the end.

Nice hike. Bring bear repellent and make noise along the way. Road to the trail needs a lot of work though. View is awesome.

My four-year-old son and I ran up the trail and down the trail. We ran up in about 35 minutes taking 5-6 short breaks. We ran down in 25 minutes taking maybe for breaks and practicing sneaking through the woods to find animals.

They weren't kidding about the ruts in the access road to the trailhead. First small lot is about a mile from the teailhead but even in a small car, you are able to get another quarter mile or so closer to the trailhead. Elevation gain isn't too bad, though I did work up a good sweat and best photos of the mountain is actually just before the switchback turn on the continuing trail to the lake.

We have now done this hike a few times and am not sure we'll do it again. Don't be afraid of the road to the trail head; we did it in a car with medium clearance and just went super slowly and we got up 7/8ths of the way to the trail head just fine. The hike along the way is fine, busy, and buggy. The view at the top is great but unfortunately also buggy which made us not want to enjoy and linger. Note that the incline is fine, however, the end is basically "stairs" in the case that is hard for someone in your group. This hike is good for a quick, get out in nature, exercise hike.

This was perfect for a quick hike! It was uphill most of the way but a very easy incline. It was extremely muddy in several sections. The last mile of the road to the hike is super rocky so we parked and walked the extra mile each way

Great trail well maintained. Easy to cross stream and has wood bridges over rest of water features. Small series of stone steps. Great reward at end of trail. Kids loved the hike. Access road was really rocky and full of potholes. Park could really use to regrade that.

Super easy trail with a beautiful reward at the top. I would tell you to keep hiking after you get to the top. The trail gets more beautiful the more you go in towards death canyon.

Nice little trail! Short and easy if you’re a hiker, but still very doable for kids/people who don’t hike often. Getting to the trailhead is up a dirt road and I would suggest higher clearance though there were some sedans that made it through. Lake at the top was nice, great view. No animal sightings, but all in all a nice hike!
