My wife and I did the loop yesterday. I used a website I found that shows the last time Old Faithful and the Grand erupted and an estimate for next eruption. We watched Old Faithful erupt twice; once from right beside it and once from the observation trail. The observation trail is much better vantage point. after that, we began walking the trail. I knew Grand was supposed to erupt sometime between 1 pm and 3 pm with my best estimate at 2 pm. We were approaching the Grand at 155 pm and it started to erupt!!!! I was like a little kid, partially because I lucked out on my estimate to be there and partially because the eruption was utterly amazing...much better than Old Faithful and longer. The crowd was amazed as well. The loop is a nice relaxing walk that just about anyone can do.

Hey it’s Old Faithful!! You can’t go to Yellowstone and not see Old Faithful. Super crowded of course since visitor center and other educational bdlgs are here plus gift shop etc but now I can say I saw it

Great views of Old Faithful all around if you stand back some from the crowds along the edges. Make sure to get there early if you want the best spot/view

So crowded! Worth it though!

Completed this trail in the winter when it was well below zero. No crowds and a few bison and coyotes in the area.

I give this trail five stars for two reasons. One, it is around old faithful... The most well-known geyser in the world. Two, it is in Yellowstone National Park… One of the most beautiful places on earth. Some people rate trails by the trail itself, I rate trails by the overall experience. I had the fortune of running this trail at sunset while Old Faithful was erupting … It was glorious.

Went on a perfect overcast day and there was not too many people for Yellowstone. Was even able to get parking in mid day.

Pretty much a must do if visiting Yellowstone for the first time to sightsee, but wouldn’t consider this a traditional hike by trail. Expect A LOT of people. Not sure why this is rated moderate. Maybe the smell? Pretty much just a walk on the boardwalk the park created for people wanting to see geysers.

Did this one around 5 years ago when I was 11 years old, great way to see the hot springs up close, there were bones visible in one of them from where a bison fell in and died. Old faithful was fun to watch and there’s a clock that counts down till the next eruption, about and hour and 15 between each one. Obviously this is a big tourist attraction so expect crowds.

So heavily trafficked, it is more of a walk then a hike. Did a few years back with a Venture Crew.

Took the boardwalk around the entire Upper Geyser Basin. There were a lot of geysers and springs along the trail. We spent hours on this boardwalk. I recommend purchasing the Science book for kids from the Visitor Center. I comes with a backpack that you check out with thermometers and tools to use on your hike.

If you have kids 5+ years can pair this hike with a scientist patch earned from the visitor center. Was cool as part of the scientist activity you had an infrared thermometer and educational materials that made the hike so much fun. Add on a coyote visit during the hike and it was phenomenal.

Easy walk if it's not too hot out. You get to see lots of different smaller geysers and things all pretty close together. So much to look at but if you're not fascinated by this type of thing like I am, staying by old faithful and skipping the loop may be sufficient

A good set of geysers. Make sure to be around when old faithful goes off. You may also get lucky and see some of the other geysers go off.

It's a bit of an incline, but totally worth it! As you start the climb your trail will be shaded by pine trees. Try to time it to watch Old Faithful erupt while you're at the observation area.

Best hammock spot in the park! Minimal effort for maximum reward.

definitely strenuous up to the point, but easy over to Solitary geyser, and down to the Lion Group. It is worth the climb to the top, especially if Old Faithful is ready to erupt
