Please refer to the park page for updates. You can instead do a short walk around Biscuit Basin. Gorgeous waterfall views rewards you after a tough hike up to the overlook, bring your water. This trail is much quieter, which is great for those avoiding the tourist throng in Biscuit Basin. Definitely take the whole loop around for the best views!

This trail is unbelievably beautiful and is probably the prettiest trail I’ve ever hiked. You get hot springs/geysers, mountain views, a waterfall, forest, and wildlife. Because a lot of it is up the mountain and because there are tons of beautiful scenic photo ops, expect to take more time than you would normally for a 3.5 mile hike.

We went counterclockwise but would recommend doing it clockwise. Great view out east and of the falls. Do it!

Beautiful walk to falls than onto the Biscuit Basin Overlook to enjoy the view and watched Old Faithful’s eruption. Highly suggest walking the loop to the left towards the falls instead of how the map takes you. Towards the falls you are facing great views up and down (on the loop) without having to turn around to see the sights

One of my favorite hikes at Yellowstone, took the trail through observation point which consisted of beautiful views as you go to the top.

great short hike for the whole family.

A good variety of sights with the biscuit basin hot springs, a moderate >600ft climb, then waterfalls. The view includes Old Faithful in the distance. Good photo ops.

We did this hike by accident after continuing into the forests behind the Biscuit Basin pools and geysers. But we were very pleasantly surprised and so glad we did it. The views are spectacular. Do this hike counterclockwise so you knock out the steep trek to the overlook first, then you can enjoy the waterfalls at the end. The overlook provides awesome views of all of the geysers within sight, including Old Faithful (we were lucky enough to see it erupt from the overlook!)

Fantastic trail, take the tougher route up and be well rewarded when you get to the falls from above.

Pretty good trail just a lot of people

Hiked Both trails, breathe taking views. The 0.5M trail at the start after the boardwalk is faster and easier with the best views but the other one is moderate with overviews of the old faithful geyser and can view the top of the falls.

Great hike! Went to mystic overlook and then back down to the actual bottom of the falls. Decent amount of switchbacks up to the overlook but incredibly worth the views! We saw old faithful erupt from the top which was amazing. Overlook trail was not busy at all but the hike towards the actual falls was pretty well trafficked. Everyone was respectful and kind which made it an amazing hike! Recommended to bring decent shoes (the amount of people I see wearing flip flops on these hikes is getting ridiculous...) - I mean, this is far from a strenuous hike but there’s so many parts of the hike where you could really hurt your feet if you’re not wearing proper footwear!

Great hike with a lot of variety for only 3.5 miles! Definitely wear bug spray and bring lots of water in the summer heat. Loved this hike to see a different part of Yellowstone.

We really liked this trail. Varied terrain, beautiful views, nice waterfall. Did the switchbacks first as recommended and it was a good idea. Those were a decently steep ascent but it went quickly. Challenging enough to be interesting but not difficult. Bring bug spray!

pretty much loved it, muddy mucky nasty in places but cool

Fun hike. As mentioned in other reviews, we enjoyed going right at the fork and hiking down to the falls. Pretty steady climb on the way up, but not overly challenging. Views were excellent on the way down. Be sure to bring bug spray and/or cover up. The mosquitoes are viscous.

We had great views of the valley to Old Faithful. We hiked from the old Faithful Inn in the morning.

Actually dropped my glasses below the fork had to go down to find them. I did then went back up. Wonderful hike. No phone service so couldn’t record. Son and I were pretty much alone day after Father’s Day. Didn’t have a map. Took right at the fork which meant you come down to the falls which was counter to what we heard the normal path is.

Thai was out first hike in Yellowstone. We went up the switch backs and down to the waterfall which I had read was the better way to do it and agree with as well. 9 of us hiked the trail; 4 adults and 5 children ages 7-13 everyone enjoyed it and there are plenty of beautiful lookouts over the old faithful geyser area (upper geyser basin).

Mystic Falls was a sight to behold!

I highly recommend this hike. Even though it's 3.5 miles it is a good workout. The views are amazing and the switch back is always fun.

Excellent views of the falls and overlooks of the geysers. Several good overlooks at the top. Go right at the fork for overlook and for good views of the falls while descending. Trail is well worn and easy to follow. Very busy at the start. Didn't see very many people once we started the climb to the top. It seems most people hiked to the falls and then back out. Definitely go to the top for some great views.

Gorgeous! Go right at the fork for mystic falls, head up to the vista and down to the falls(much more satisfying than vise versa) some great lookouts at the top. Some enchanting waters, eapecially now, while the snowmelt still keeps the flow strong.

Saw a beaver! Amazing hike. Do it

Trail is open to Mystic falls although I couldn't dare to enter bear country without bear spray

Closed since 3/10/19 due to bear activity per a sign blocking the entrance to the trail. All you can do is walk around the short (but cool) Biscuit Basin loop.
