Beautiful. Saw many birds, small animals, and bugs. The medicine wheel itself was a sight to see. Especially if you catch a ceremony going on.
We drove this coming back from Yellowstone, it was the last "real" mountains before we headed back into South Dakota.
My wife and my parents and I made this drive twice this summer. It's so gorgeous! Hwy 14/14a are part of one of the main routes to get to Yellowstone from the east, but even so, (for such a beautiful place) traffic is lighter than I expected. There are tons of mule deer, but we were lucky enough to spot some elk, and a moose or two. There are 3 different lodges that you can stop and eat/refuel at on top of the mountain.
