Mallard Lake Trail is a 7.5 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, trail running, camping, and backpacking and is best used from May until September.
Directions from Old Faithful: Go to the Old Faithful Lodge cabin area.
Pros: moderately strenuous, great views
Cons: can hear the road noise, over used, trash in campsites, low lake level
My fiancé and I went backpacking here. It was a very nice hike and peaceful place to camp away from the typical camp grounds.
I've seen moose at Mallard Lake before.
