Great place to snowshoe and get lost in the magic and solitude of the Park during winter! Went 11/30 and got a late start, about 2:15pm, so only did a small portion of the trail, out and back.

Did just a portion of the trail in out and back fashion for about 1.5 hours and enjoyed it very much. Started at the trail head around the middle of Lamar Valley. Great feeling being in this open space, Lots of bison in the distance. Saw bear footprints by the river but no bear encounter.

Be aware that back country site 3F1 has high bear activity. We set up camp there 7/17/19. At 5:30pm we watched a black bear across the river. As it climbed up the bank, he met up with a grizzly. As we watched those two I spotted a grizzly on our side of the river 75 feet away. We screamed at it to no avail. Needless to say, we broke camp and left in a hurry.

Absolutely amazing! Our favorite sites were 3L7 and 3L9. Animals everywhere. Beautiful views.
